This kid won't stop. He's been on a ROLL lately... Friday night, Jason and I were driving around on our way to dinner out with the kids. (I use Fish Friday's/Lent as an opportunity for dinner out with the family -- it's either fish sticks or eat out! :) Hence the date...) As we were being nosy, driving through a subdivision, looking at homes, Colton pipes up from the back seat, "I like that one, guys. Can we have it?" -- as if having a house were that easy. On Saturday, the kids rode with me to run errands. Bank, library, and then to a consignment shop to look at some end tables for Matt & Sarah. On the way back, I'd called my Mom, and Colton (perched in the front seat, due to the massive purchase in the backseats), watches me contently. The MOMENT I hang up, he pipes up...."So. Colton has been on a ROLL lately. Let's recap some of the "out of the mouths of babes" moments from my boy this past couple of weeks... This past Wednesday was Ash Wednesday. Colton was so interested in the ashes. Who all gets them. Why are some bigger, smaller, darker, brighter, x's vs. crosses, etc. He was very  good when it came time to "get ashed", because he stood in line by himself and walked right up there. Once back to our pew, he was observing my everyone's ashes. Then he kept turning around, and watching people behind us. Finally, in a faint whisper, (but with a giant, obvious pointing motion) he points a few rows back. "Mom, mom...see that guy back there...not that one, but the guy on the end" (still pointing...as I'm trying to lower his hand, remind him to turn around/rude to point) he said, "Mom. you can hardly see his ashes, because he's brown!"  Thank GOD he was only whispering. Wow. 5 years. Where does the time go? Happy Birthday, sweet boy. You are growing and changing every day. You asked me last night, "on your last night of EVER being 4", if you'd look different tomorrow, when you were 5. Well, we looked in the mirror this morning and I still saw a sweet, sweet baby boy, growing too fast before my eyes. You saw a you that was suddenly, "as tall as Kendall because she's 5, and taller than Maverick, because he's only 4". Birthday Breakfast of Champions! Here's a quick recap of Colton's Boiler Up! We've kicked off the new year in a pretty low-key fashion. Jason's taking advantage of the quiet weekends to put in some overtime to save up for our upcoming trip to Florida, so the kids and I have kept busy. This past weekend, we spent the morning getting Colton's 5 year old pictures taken -- FIVE YEARS OLD. Good grief where did that time go? Emmalyn was even a sport and donned her new Purdue Cheerleader outfit to do a Purdue picture for Momma! :) Then we shipped her off to spend the afternoon with Aunt Nina while Colton and I hit up the Purdue Men's basketball game. Such a fun afternoon with my family. We wrapped the evening with dinner, and then home to snuggle up to Daddy for the rest of the evening. Me & Colton -- BOILER UP!! We got premium seats for the 2nd half -- and it was AWESOME!
