Pictures of Progress

Well, again, I'm not a great photographer, but here is a photo update of the progress that was made. Just last night, the finishers came out and started going to town upstairs. They are fast, and good at what they do. This makes me happy, because it's a step toward work I can be doing. Granted, there is still plenty going on in our house, but at least we're making big strides forward at this point. I just really hope that we continue to move forward, with no more setbacks. By the way, if you're at all interested in donating to the help Kim & Jason finance this place...you can call about donation options. Many are available! :) HA I never realized how much it cost to do some of this work (and we're getting it cheap, because Jason has some amazing friends & coworkers!!) Okay...now the serious part, the pictures... This is some of the drywall hung, but not yet finished. Really, its not a great picture...but it's progress! This shows more o...

Getting Closer...

Wednesday, 24 October 2007 Well, we're finally making forward progress. Not that we haven't been all along, it just felt like we kept hitting snags in the road, and would have to take 2 steps forward and 5 steps back! Let's do a checklist, just for fun: Plumbing - done, aside from hooking up water heater Duct Work - done. Drywall - Hung, except for the laundry room. (They start finishing tonight!!! Hooray for that!!) Electric - just the laundry room & circuit board left -- I've been told one weekend? We'll see if that flies... Jason tells me that we might be able to start painting next weekend (not this weekend...but next). That'd be huge! That means carpet & floors aren't too far behind, and we'd still be on track to meet our move in before Thanksgiving deadline! I have a feeling once we start doing some of that work, I'll really feel like we are finally making progress and moving things forward!!! Everything is looking n...

Saturday, a day of work....

Well, it's official. After almost 10 months of avoiding working for a full weekend, here I am. At work. All weekend. And, what a weekend to be working. Let me backtrack a little bit, to bring you up to speed. Friday mornings. My favorite -- they mean that if you survive one more day, you'll get two off, to do as you please. Two days to sleep in a little bit, work on the house, and just not have to dress up. Yesterday, was a perfect Friday morning. Almost. I was even having a decent hair day. Go figure. I fixed myself a steaming cup of hot apple cider with red hots, my favorite this time of year. I loaded up my car, dreading the fact that I had to work until 10pm, but knowing that I had everything prepared, I didn't fret too much. Cruising down 700W, headed for work, 7:45am, sipping my hot cider, and happy to know that Ron White was on Bob & Tom, and actually, pretty funny. About 2 minutes later, and 1.75 miles down the road from mom and dad....just past S...

Another week...more progress!

Well, first of all, wow, it's been a whole week since I updated. Sorry about that. Hard to believe. I'm having a hard time believing that it's already Thursday....Monday was just yesterday. At least it feels that way this week. House -- major progress. Well, sort of. Friday we worked around the house pulling off wallpaper and getting things prepped for drywall. Jason and a buddy from work drywalled the stairwell, upstairs room & nursery all before noon on Saturday. Saturday afternoon, he and Jacob piddled around finishing up the nursery and started some work on the dining room to get it ready to drywall. Finally though, about 5:30pm, I think Jason hit a brick wall. He's been working so hard out there, and late each night, not getting home until 9:30-10, eating, then crashing. We came home, ate supper, and dear Jason was asleep on the couch in the 5th inning of the Cubs game, about 7pm. Poor guy. He was in and out during the rest of the Cubs game (wh...

Thirsty Thursday!

Well, as of right now, we're set to sign closing papers on the new house, in approximately 3 hours. Luckily, I have a bottle of champagne in the fridge at the new house -- we might have to have some sips to celebrate. Obviously, because of baby, Kim's sips will be just that...sips, but hey, this has been a long time, and a lot of hard work coming...I think we deserve to celebrate. Beyond that...in today's Exponent (Purdue's daily...good for only the daily horoscopes...), Jason's "Tonight:..." statement, was "Tonight: A meeting degenerates into a wild get together." and mine, "Tonight: Act like it's the weekend." See. We were meant to celebrate today. Not too much to update on, other than we've been putting in a lot of hours this week, and were both late to work today, because we overslept. Not an earth shattering late, but a good 5-10 minutes -- stupid alarm clock kept going off....come Saturday, it's not go...

Another weekend under our belts...

Monday, 01 October 2007   We survived another weekend, but I'm telling you, Monday morning should not start until 10am or even noon!! We both hit the snooze button multiple times this morning...just didn't want to move! Friday evening Jason worked out at the house, and I was on a mission to buy him new work jeans. I didn't feel that this was a necessity for him, but later learned that it probably was. We had plans to go up to Frontier's Homecoming game...but instead he quit early and we got Chalmers Pub carryout at the Stockment residence! We had a nice visit with his Mom and didn't know when to expect his Dad, it's that time of year, and they were loading out train cars, so we didn't expect him too early. Finally about 10, we gave up on him and went home to crash!   Saturday, Jason picked up Jacob and headed out to the house about 8am...while I slept in, and made lunch for the boys. I had made plans before we moved to help prepare the Indian...
