Crazy Times...

Thursday, 27 September 2007 Well, could life get any more nutso than it is right now? (I know, I know...wait till I have this kid right?) I can hardly believe that tomorrow is Friday already. And, I have to apologize, the pictures that I took last Saturday, to post early in the week...are now well outdated, but I'll put these up tonight, and hope to get some  more recent ones tonight to put up tomorrow. Jason has been working like a crazy man the last few days. Saturday, he met a guy to measure for carpet at 8:30am. I got there about 9am, and about 11am, Mom & I headed to Lafayette to pick out what kinds of carpet we might actually want. Needless to say, when we got back at 2:30...(It took 10x longer than we'd planned...) we could no longer get upstairs, and half the floor was missing in the laundry room. Jason found what he assumes to be the problem of the slanting floor/stairs to be two places (at least) where whoever did the work, simply cut through the ...

Destruction - Day 1

Well, we tore into the house last night, and actually made good progress. It's a busy day at work, but I wanted to take a minute to post a few pictures of things we found, that were interesting to me. We've got our work cut out for us,but I really think things are going to come together rather nicely. I'm anxious now to see the finished project....and we just started. I better learn to be patient. This it what the dining room looks like, minus the nasty pink carpet. We'll likely put a laminate/hard wood back down on the far end of the room, making it a living room, and in the closer half of the room, we're thinking of just doing a computer/office room. It will probably be carpeted like the living room. Notice Jason working hard to pull out the carpet in the living room...he's a hard worker. I'm thankful for that. This was my project. We took down the big mirrors in the bathroom to get the wallpaper off. When I started, I thought I was onl...

Finally!

Well, finally...we can finally start actually working on our new house tonight. The appraisal came back, and we can start fixing up/cleaning up! Hooray for that!!! I think it will actually start to feel like ours now...which is HUGE! Jason is going to stop by tonight (we'd already made plans to go watch Jacob's football game, and if we don't go tonight, we'll probably never get away...we'll have a busy month or more ahead of us...) and start tearing out the nasty/nappy carpet. That'll make a HUGE difference. I can't wait to clean that place up...it's so cute. So, I have to say this. I had someone leave a really nice comment on the site...except, because you are all signing in as stockmentfriends -- I don't know who left the note! HA   So, if you post a comment, maybe put your name or initials at the bottom, that way, I know who to respond to. Silly, I know...but helpful to a forgetful pregnant girl. Tomorrow's the big day. We g...

Just another manic, MONDAY

Monday's are the most sad day in the world. The weekend is over, I'm usually too tired to be overly productive, and yet, they are the busiest day of the week. How is that? But, I've managed today, and hope that the rest of the week goes just as fast, so that we can have a relaxing weekend ahead of us. Oh wait...we're hoping to be working on our house, so I guess I could just say goodbye right now to any kind of relaxing weekend in my future. It'll be worth it in the end right? That's what they keep telling me. This weekend was a whirlwind. We actually chilled out Friday night, but it wasn't much consolation after the week we'd had. We just watched a movie on TV and visited with Butch. And oh yeah, we closed on our house-- not the new one, but the 305 house. We weren't sure if it'd all come together on Friday afternoon, but at 5:15pm we walked away with a nice sized check. Too bad it won't last too long once you put some away,...

Goodbye, 305 E. Third St.

Sad day folks...last night was officially the last night at 305 E Third. Quite sad if you think about the good times that have occurred in that place. It's Jason's first house, home to many good memories for him and Seth I'm sure...many of which I'm not, and probably never want to be aware of. It's where we started dating, had our first Christmas, many Apple/Popcorn Garage Sales, porch parties, Jason's surprise birthday party, and of course, it was home to many wonderful 305 E Third St. Parties -- let me tell you, if you weren't involved in one of these, it's definitely your loss. All I'll say is that after an evening of fun at a wedding...the place to go was 305 E Third. The picture proof of the Gretencord Wedding 305 E Third St. Party is enough to prove that it was a good time. Let's just say that they boys didn't keep a full fridge, but that night, they had at least 6 cases of Miller Lite and some ketchup in their belongings....

Our Dream Home

Well, as promised here are a few pictures of the place. Remember, I'm by no means a certified photographer, so these shots probably don't do much for the place. I'll post a few "befores" of the inside too. Our first goal is to redo the floors...which you can see need some work. Some cleaning, and tlc will do this house wonders. The setting alone is worth it. We were out there last night...and it's so dang peaceful. Jason has big dreams and I know it means an awful lot to him, so we're excited to get out there and get settled. At this point, it looks like we could be moving out there next week...but obviously, only into a few rooms at first, until we get it cleaned, ready to live in. Anyway...enough jabber. Here are some pictures...Enjoy! PS. Happy Friday! This is the house from about 50 feet back. Obviously, I didn't do anything with the dates on my camera...so ignore that.  The main entrance is there behind the pole for the security l...

Labor Day Weekend - GONE.

Well, Labor Day has passed, which pretty much means summer is officially over. That's okay with me, now that I don't get summer breaks anymore...it's really not my favorite season. I love fall. The changing colors, the smell of harvest and combines in the field. I like sweatshirt weather. Not too hot, not too cold. It's the perfect season. Well, the long weekend passed much too quickly, but with all we had planned, I'm not surprised. Highlights included the Hall Fish Fry, cookout at Bart's, and helping Brad & Jacki around their new house. The Fish Fry was a blast. Almost everyone was there, and we had such a great time. Jason played football with my brothers and cousins for so long, and so rough, that he was sore for the next two days. I thought maybe he was just out of shape, but when I've heard complaints from all of them, I'd say it is safe to say they played too rough! They enjoyed it though. I got an education from my cousin Sta...
