Baseball to Football to Basketball...

My famous line, the one that needs to be printed in my eulogy some day,  is - "um, they didn't tell me this at the baby shower". They didn't. They never do. All the things that make you wonder how you never knew this...but yet, parents before you SURELY did....why do they not pass that on? You know the cutesy game where you give the new mom advice? Ya, where was all this stuff then? NO ONE told me I'd have a THREE SPORT ATHLETE (or that that was even a possibility) at age 8 and in the THIRD GRADE!! This is such a foreign concept to me -- but thankfully for you, Colton, your Momma loves sports, and loves seeing you happy -- so we do what we do. We finished summer rec baseball in mid-July, started Football in early August, and basketball in late October. Please no one tell me there's another sport that falls between December & March....please...I'd like a breather. So now it's basketball season -- and this is a sport Momma know. Momma loves. Mo...

So October was a bit crazy. Wedding. Field Trips. Football. Farming. Jenna's 30th Birthday. Fall Break and Parent Teacher Conferences. Kind of nutso, right? One would like to try to get some extra sleep in that kind of schedule, right? We did the exact opposite. And I'd do it again in a heartbeat if it meant the same outcome. For years, and years -- as long as I can remember - we've been Cubs fan.s Forever. My whole family. Well, minus Uncle T for a short phase of trying to be his own person and thinking the Braves were cool -- but he came around. So when the Cubs just kept winning, we just kept watching. And watching. And holding our breath. And sighing when we thought the curse was back. And liking "hype" videos. And praying. And hoping. And watching. And then, after two straight weeks of 9pm first pitches, on November 2nd -- we watched all our dreams come true. And the kids were ALL IN. We made signs. We painted our faces. We prayed. We cheered. We sa...

Ghosts, Ghouls and Lumberjacks....

We had a fun Halloween this year!! We actually got to participate in the school's Trunk or Treat, as well as the Halloween party at our house with the Stockment Fam, and actual trick or treat on Halloween. Yes, that's three times of dressing up. No one tells you  that you'll do this when you're at the baby shower. No warnings that you will paint your children's face three times to match their outfits or that they will complain to no end (after initially loving it) that their outfit you made is itchy and they don't want to wear it. Halloween costumes are cool for a mere 15 minutes....get the camera out while it lasts Momma!! At least they had a great time with their friends at Trunk or Treat!!

Field Trips, Football and Farming

October is here, and it's a busy time in the Stockment house! Both kids kicked off the month with their fall field trips and I was blessed to get to attend them both! It was back to back good times!! Colton's trip was up first -- Frontier 3rd grade trip to Camp Tecumseh to learn to live like pioneers! There were several stations set up, and the kids went in groups from station to station learning about furs and trapping, to Pioneer cooking, to candle making to an old one room school house. They got to fish using nothing but fishing line & a tree branch and got to saw & build with life size Lincoln logs. Colton really enjoyed it, and I really enjoyed watching him interact with his classmates that day. Of course, in Colton's book...the only thing that can top a day out of school, is getting to spend a great late afternoon/evening farming with Grandpa.  So that's just waht we did. I love the smiles of sheer joy in these faces. The next day it w...

Wedding #1

We kicked off the month of October in a fun, albiet a bit wet, way! Uncle Jacob & Aunt Makayla got married! If I do say so myself, they had a pretty handsome ring bearer. Makayla was beautiful and Jacob looked pretty dapper!  We'll let the pictures tell the story of this picture perfect day! :) The good news is that Keat was surrounded by wonderful influences on the day of Uncle Jacob's wedding...I'm sure he picked up ZERO bad habits....

Little Hunters & Farmers

These two boys have been peas in a pod for as long as I can remember, and this weekend proved no different. We picked them up from Football practice, they quickly changed personas clothes into "farmer" clothes, and we hopped up to my parents to farm with Grandpa & Grandma & Uncle Trent! Such a wonderful evening. These kind of nights are so good for my soul! Love nights on the farm, and watching these two little boys enjoy the farm just make it that much sweeter. Don't let them fool you -- Emmalyn and Keaton can hold their own with Colton & Wyatt! We left the side ditch and jumped in the pool one final time before the cooler weather comes and Grandma shuts down the pool. By Saturday morning, the boys were up early to shoot bb guns, and they didn't just shoot the target. They went out to the south barn, and had one goal: kill a pigeon just like Dad. And that they did...with their little hunter buddy as a tag along. They were so proud of the...

Meet our Godson!

On Sunday, September 18th, 5 days after babies expected due date, I got a text from Matt saying, "Shall I live tweet the days events".....................and I quickly responded, "does this mean you're there?"..........and go zero response. Trent & Mom finally clued me in that they did finally go at 4am on Sunday, and we all anxious awaited the arrival of a new niece or nephew. Anxiously. Awaited. All. Dang. Day.   Finally, around 6pm, we got word that sweet baby George David was here, and all were well! Welcome to our family circus, George. We are glad you are here, and joining this rowdy bunch of cousins. Uncle Jason and I are so excited to be your Godparents. We hope you always let Christ's light shine! Love you sweet baby boy!   On Saturday, one week after George's arrival, we baptized him into the catholic church. We were honored to be asked to be his Godparents!!
