July turned to August....and All Star Baseball

It's 2016, so that means it's a Purdue Conferences year. Which basically means my summers are MUSH. My posting is rare on this blog, and my balance of family & work is a little skewed...but we made it. We had a successful Conference for work, we played some all-star baseball on both weekends flanking my conferences, we had the White County Fair right AFTER my conferences, and then vacation right after that, and then we started school right after that. Do you see now why MAYBE we lacked at posting in this timeframe? And why it's now September 8th, and I'm just sitting down long enough to actually RECALL what happened in that time? My brain is still a bit foggy from all the fun...

All Star Pinto -- Colton was lucky enough to have been invited to play on the All-Star team again this year, and boy are those kids fun to watch. The level of intensity jumps a notch, and the kids rise to the occasion. They played some really tough teams, and because they did well in the opening weekend, had to play in the winners bracket the following weekend. Why do I say that like they had too....basically, we had the toughest teams first. A long road to walk. And we lost the first game of the tournament, but that kicked us into a losers bracket, that we got all the way to the end of, before eventually losing to the team who would lose to the overall tournament championships. It was a FUN ride, with some great families and awesome boys. We adore these summer days at the ballparks nad will forever cherish these memories. Colton - it's been a fun summer watching you grow & learn the game of baseball. What you might have missed during the regular season, you certainly picked up in the all-star season. We love watching you play, and love that you are a wonderful teammate. Always do your best, and we'll forever be proud of you!











Remember how I said the games flanked my Conference? I couldn't actually make it to your game on Wednesday night, but I was able (thanks to your coaches being awesome)  to watch from my phone and enjoy a beer on the conferences. I call that a win/win! :)
 Thankfully, someone had a Frontier Hat for Grandpa to borrow -- perhaps a Christmas gift this year?

Covid ... the end. (Hopefully. Maybe. I really don't know....)

 Almost two years ago, exactly, our world drastically changed. Everyone holed up at home, scared to enter the world and catch Covid 19/Corona Virus. (Except Jason, once he got to feeling better from most likely having Covid before it was a known thing, he just went to work everyday like nothing had changed). The world basically shut down  -- special hours, curbside pick up encouraged, no dining room service only drive through or carryout. If someone coughed or sneezed anywhere near you, you were instantly suspicious. Our parents lived on complete edge and worry, taking in every ounce of information the news was constantly throwing in their faces. It was a time of great uncertainty, lots of information being thrown at us from trusted news sources, social media, and hearsay from those in the medical profession.  We spent March to May just trying to figure out our new life. No baseball. No softball. Lots of time with our animals. Lots of crafts. School from home. Porch drop ...

April - Hey Batter, Batter...

April is always the month that makes us think spring is FINALLY here, because it's starting to warm up, suns starting to shine more, except when we finally get to the baseball/softball fields, it's just as cold as it was in February. Thankfully, Emmalyn had an indoor sport to carry us through the cold of the month, until baseball/softball really got kicked off! Emmalyn tried something new this year and participated in CiVic vollebyall. This is a club program out of Carroll County, and she practiced every Sunday from January through April. Finally in late April she had three play dates. One Saturday we played up at Fairmount, IN. Grandma Jacki, Keaton and I went with Emmalyn, while Dad, Grandpa and Colton cut down some trees in preparation for our spring projects. Emmalyn and Mae Ella did a wonderful job for their team, both rocked their serving and seemed to know the game and keep their cool better than some on the team.
