May - The Month No Mother Remembers

I mean, let's be honest. Does May even happen? It's like this glorious time of year where things are coming back to life, it's warming up, schools winding down -- but also, ALL THE THINGS happen in May. It's becoming go-time with the 4-H animals, someone has baseball/softball something every single day, there's homework or projects to finish up, field trips, Mothers Day and of course, Memorial Day camping butted up with Emmalyn's birthday.  (This is your fault, young lady....if you weren't so stubborn when you were waiting out your final days, your birthday could be ON or BEFORE memorial day!!) Hard to believe, but Colton's winding down his 5th grade year. It's been a doozy, but we have seen so much growth. The teachers cut the kids NO slack....they hold them responsible and accountable, but it WORKS. Colton has loved having Mrs. Notary....her snark and his match up perfectly! April

April brought some new adventures for our kids. Mrs. Cook, the Ag teacher, offered for 3rd through 6th graders to join the Livestock judging team this year. Our kids jumped on board and each Tuesday and Thursday would ride the bus to the high school for practices. In April, they had their only competition and it was a great experience for them. They got an excused day out of school and enjoyed learning about the different breeds and species of animals. Jason and I broke away in the middle of the month on a special invitation for the maiden voyage of the Madam Carroll after new owners took over and Jason delivered some new materials as they updated the boat. It's always a great time, but we were nervous about the weather in April. It turned out to be a great evening with beautiful weather. Our baby lost his first tooth this month too.
