Halloween 2015

As life seems to do these days, the minutes past faster than I can remember, which means the days went faster, the weeks went faster, and before I knew it, we were staring Halloween in the face. Hadn't we JUST gone back to school?

Regardless, I asked the kiddos what they wanted to be for Halloween, and it was a resounding answer. Colton went first, saying Purdue Football player, which made Emmalyn want to be a Purdue cheerleader, and since we were already riding this ship and 2 year olds really don't get a vote...Keaton was going to be a Purdue basketball player. The best part in this entire kid-thought-of scheme....we didn't need to BUY one single costume. We had all the fixins' right in our dress up bag and closets.

Granted, like any good Mom would, I nailed the dollar tree for a few "add-ons"....like fake flower foam molds for shoulder pads and a hairbow the size of Texas for Emmalyn's cheer outfit. And as I started to scheme making Keaton a Purdue baskeball player, I got a genius idea.

Remember the adorable bibs Grandma Pat got the little guys last year at Christmas?
And so it went down.....Purdue Cheerleader. Purdue Football Player. Amazing Purdue Fan/Helmet dude.
Little did we know at that time, what a popular choice this would be. When we got to Grandma Mandy's....we found Harry a Purdue BAsketball Player and Lucy a basketball/net.
Well done, eh? Just wait. It gets better. Because we do so much running around (we call this, Country Kid Trick-or-Treating) we feel like the kids don't get to actually see/hang out/play with their costumed cousins/friends. So we invited Jason's side of the family to our house as a "last stop" (inturn, saving ourselves about 3 different stops, incorporating them into one!

Another Purdue Football player, a Colts Football player, a referee, a ninja, a cat, a dog, a dragon & Anna! :) What a FUN evening. So fun to see all the little kids dressed up having fun together!

And cupcakes and green lemonade....we'll consider this a pretty successful Halloween! So successful, that the following morning on the way to church....

Covid ... the end. (Hopefully. Maybe. I really don't know....)

 Almost two years ago, exactly, our world drastically changed. Everyone holed up at home, scared to enter the world and catch Covid 19/Corona Virus. (Except Jason, once he got to feeling better from most likely having Covid before it was a known thing, he just went to work everyday like nothing had changed). The world basically shut down  -- special hours, curbside pick up encouraged, no dining room service only drive through or carryout. If someone coughed or sneezed anywhere near you, you were instantly suspicious. Our parents lived on complete edge and worry, taking in every ounce of information the news was constantly throwing in their faces. It was a time of great uncertainty, lots of information being thrown at us from trusted news sources, social media, and hearsay from those in the medical profession.  We spent March to May just trying to figure out our new life. No baseball. No softball. Lots of time with our animals. Lots of crafts. School from home. Porch drop ...

Central Indiana Winter Spectacular

 We kicked off show season with this set of calves in mid-January at the Central Indiana Winter Spectacular, a first time show down in Cloverdale, Indiana. I'm not sure what was more fun - being with our kids and friends at a cattle show, or listening to our kids meddle over the thought of staying in a Motel 6.  (Backstory on this one -- when I worked at Purdue/in the Conference division, I held a few conference at The Hyatt in downtown Indianapolis. When I had events there, I'd earn points. We then would use those points for free night stays....I think I had maybe 15 or so over the years. So, the only hotel my kids know, is a Hyatt, because unbeknownst to them, it was FREE.....which is the ONLY reason we stayed in such a nice place with young kids. So, imagine their dismay when the Motel 6 in Cloverdale didn't have an Eagles Nest rotating up top, or an indoor pool and hot tub/workout area. We have officially raised hotel snobs.....because when we finally took them to the k...
