What a whirlwind month March has been! From the baby reveal to birthday parties (Madi turning 3, Sawyer turning 2 and soon Brad & Debbie!), to Jason working weekend after weekend at his side job, to moving Matt & Sarah into their new home, to Jason getting a new job, to kindergarten round up, to preparing for Florida....whew!
Yup, you read that right -- after 14 years with Bouma Betten, Jason is making a jump. He applied for a job with Monsanto in Remington, and was lucky enough to be offered the job just last week. I am so beyond proud of him -- he's not a resume/interview kind of guy, but he put his best foot forward and proved what a hard worker he is. He'll start there as a Seed Tech in mid-April and although it will mean big changes for him (and US!), it will be worth it. The benefits cannot be topped...vacation time, paid time off for sick leave, 401K, health -- all things he didn't have (or did have, but not great) in his current job. It will certainly be an adjustment, but if he's happier and in a stable environment (I don't believe Agriculture is going anywhere soon!) then we'll find ways to make it work for our family and create a new normal! So proud of him! And anxious to see what the future holds!
Another milestone has been reached, as Colton is now officially signed up for Kindergarten in the fall. Where in the heck have the last 5 years gone? Colton shed a few tears as they escorted him down to the K rooms with the other kids, while the parents did a meeting -- but ultimately, I think he'll be okay. He's never really been in that school for anything, so it's not a familiar place to him and I'm sure those hallways appear awfully big to a little 5 year old. Thankfully, I sent Jason down to drop him off -- and when Jason asked "Why in the holy hell did you have me do that?"...my answer was quick and simple. "Did you want two crybabies or one?"... :) By the end of the night he'd warmed up a bit, and I'm sure there will be more tears shed (by both of us) come fall, but ultimately, he's going to do great! Now -- how to break him from relying on Kendall so much! I do think that's half the reason for his tears...he was there before her, and just not quite sure what to think about that! :( Gotta build that confidence on his own!
Em's big news this month is that she's moved to a big girl nap-mat at Pam's! :) She was pretty excited about that and it's a big move to now have to nap-matters rather than at least one still a baby in a crib/packnplay! She's also talking up a storm, sticking up for herself more and loving bows and ponies! :) She's certainly a little pistol, but we love her spunk! (And her cuddles...so glad she's not given those up yet!)
Now -- only one more sleep until Florida! :) We take off sometime tomorrow to spend a week in Treasure Island with Brad, Jacki, Jacob, Jess & the girls. Should be a great time. The kids are beside themselves excited! Hope to post pictures & stories from the beach next week. We're a bit nervous that it's only supposed to be low 70's, but honestly -- compared to 18 and snowy like today -- the 50's will be a heatwave to us! :) I'm sure we'll have a great time!
That's the March update -- hoping to update more as we enter spring (finally!!!) and then the busy summer season. We'll start tee-ball, perhaps swim lessons, vacation bible school and camping, baby prep and by summer's end -- fair, new baby and school starting for both Colton and Emmalyn as she'll start her years at Bright Beginnings Preschool! Crazy how much they are teaching the kids at such a young age...but I suppose well worth it in the end!

We had Dallas' Kindergarten round-up this week as well...time sure does go too quickly.
