Ladybug Birthday - Happy 1st Birthday, Emmalyn!

We celebrated Em's birthday recently -- times TWO! Mom & Dad joined us on Em's actual first birthday, June 1st, and we had a patio supper and went to town to the new ice cream shop. Enjoy a few pictures of a fun evening!
Both kids got a birthday gift on Em's birthday...a Gator to play in!

They love it!!

SUGAR HIGH!

Em's second party, that one gave me some gray hairs. Mom came down to our house on Saturday to help me prepare. We cleaned the house top to bottom. Jason and Jacob busted their TAILS out in the heat all day to make our home picture perfect. Then it happened. Ole Mother Nature reared her UGLY head. By 6:45pm, Jason was in the shower ready to relax for the day, and the kids and I had just come inside. The clouds rolled in. The winds started...soon the sirens were going off, and there was so much wind debris. Finally, about 7:45, with no electricity and supper half baked in the oven, we high tailed it to McDon's for supper. We came home and decided since the power was still out, we'd just go to bed. Afterall, we were bushed from a hard day's work. Then about 10pm, Seth called. Said he heard there were between 25-35 power poles down between Brookston and Chalmers, and that we could be without power for up to a week! PANIC!!! How could I host Em's first birthday party with no running water, no toilets, no lights, no fridge, no nothing. Fast forward to Sunday morning 9am. Still no electricity. Worse storm reports. Jason cussing out the front door at Mother Nature for destroying his work of art. Mom & Dad luckily had power, even though all of Brookston/Chalmers did not. We went there to at least shower, but packed prepared to move the party there. Thankfully, my parents are amazing people...so Sunday Mom & I cleaned her house up and by 4pm, we had a perfect little party set up for Miss Em. Thank you to everyone who changed plans with us, and came clear to Wolcott for her first birthday. Thank you to my parents for giving up their entire weekend for my family and going out of their way to make Em's big day something we won't ever forget. We are blessed beyond belief! And just in case you were curious...we got our power back at 8pm on Sunday evening. The rest of the town of Brookston/Chalmers, didn't come back on until 12:05 Tuesday morning. THANK GOODNESS!

Get Well Soon, Grandpa Kent

Here's the best way to share Dad's video. Thank you all so much for submitting the clips. This really made him smile (and say some funny things the first time we watched soon after anesthesia). I think it will be treasured company this evening in the hospital. Thank you for your prayers, your thoughts, for answering the phone calls and lifting Dad up. We appreciate all your love and support.  58E2238E-D2E3-4B38-9FF6-AE1E502ABD14.mp4

Covid ... the end. (Hopefully. Maybe. I really don't know....)

Almost two years ago, exactly, our world drastically changed. Everyone holed up at home, scared to enter the world and catch Covid 19/Corona Virus. (Except Jason, once he got to feeling better from most likely having Covid before it was a known thing, he just went to work everyday like nothing had changed). The world basically shut down  -- special hours, curbside pick up encouraged, no dining room service only drive through or carryout. If someone coughed or sneezed anywhere near you, you were instantly suspicious. Our parents lived on complete edge and worry, taking in every ounce of information the news was constantly throwing in their faces. It was a time of great uncertainty, lots of information being thrown at us from trusted news sources, social media, and hearsay from those in the medical profession.  We spent March to May just trying to figure out our new life. No baseball. No softball. Lots of time with our animals. Lots of crafts. School from home. Porch drop ...

April - Hey Batter, Batter...

April is always the month that makes us think spring is FINALLY here, because it's starting to warm up, suns starting to shine more, except when we finally get to the baseball/softball fields, it's just as cold as it was in February. Thankfully, Emmalyn had an indoor sport to carry us through the cold of the month, until baseball/softball really got kicked off! Emmalyn tried something new this year and participated in CiVic vollebyall. This is a club program out of Carroll County, and she practiced every Sunday from January through April. Finally in late April she had three play dates. One Saturday we played up at Fairmount, IN. Grandma Jacki, Keaton and I went with Emmalyn, while Dad, Grandpa and Colton cut down some trees in preparation for our spring projects. Emmalyn and Mae Ella did a wonderful job for their team, both rocked their serving and seemed to know the game and keep their cool better than some on the team. The second weekend Dad, Em & Mom traveled to Triton H...
