Vacation Bible School/ Camp Mamps

This past week, we were blessed by both my Mom and Aunt Debbie/Great Grandma Pat to give the kids a break from daycare to have a "fun week" this summer. Each morning was spent at VBS at the Chalmers Church, while the afternoons alternated between Camp Mamps & Camp Maxwell. Our kids were beyond spoiled and we paid for that by the time we got them home each evening. TIRED kiddos!

Monday was day one VBS. Although a little shy at first, both kids had a great first day. Mamps picked them up at 11am, and the spoiling began. Off to meet Grandpa and Uncle T for lunch at Bell's pizza, then home for a bit before taking off for Monticello to Holly's for swim lessons. Mom promised ice cream if the kids did well, and they must have, because they came home with ice cream filled bellies! CRASH and BURN on night number one. Well done.
Snacks at VBS!

Tuesday was VBS, then back to Aunt Debbie's to play with Sawyer. I believe they had a big lunch, a lot of snacks, took a brief nap (Em snuggled in with Silas, Colton & Sawyer gave up on the couches) and then sprinkler fun. When I got home they were having a dance party in the living room to their VBS music. When we got home, Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle T and Byroads delivered our newest calves. Meet Freddie, Falcon, Boiler & Pete.
Okay, so the cows vanished before my camera would shoot, but pretty cute to watch Jason and his mini-me welcome the new calves!

Wednesday was VBS, then Camp Mamps again -- only this day would be a bit more lowkey. I was happy to see a email come through about 1pm that said, "Quiet time at Camp Mamps"...followed by a picture of Colton pitching in Uncle Matt's old cleats. Once off work, Jason headed north to help Matt & Sarah finish up some work on their house, and I met them at Mom's to fix a quick supper. Into town to hit up the park with Harry & Aunt Sarah, then home to crash.

Big shoes to fill?

Thursday was VBS... by now, both kids are PRO'S and looking forward to each new day. Loving the new friends they've made and sharing the crafts they bring home each night. After VBS Aunt Debbie, Grandma Pat and Margie Maxwell took the kids to the park for a picnic and playtime. Then home for I believe she said two rounds of ice cream, outside play at the water table and a brief nap! Thursday night we came home to chill and work around the house.

Park Picnic Date with Sawyer!

Love these kiddos!

So, do you agree? Were they SPOILED??

Friday was their final day of VBS, including what they called "specials" and the closing picnic. So, Mom took the day off to join the kiddos...which was really fun. I dropped the kids off, then went home to bake some cookies for the closing program that evening. Back at 11am to watch them get to encounter animals from the Columbian Park zoo. Both kids passed on touching the Tarantula (can't blame them whatsoever!!), but both were brave enough to "kind of" touch the lizard and armadillo! Outside to take turns throwing at the dunk tank -- Colton nailed it on his first try! Em was a little short. Bounce house and bubbles, then inside for the picnic. Such a fun morning! By evening, Grandma Jacki picked them up while Mom went to the doc (36 weeks check up) and then after the evening program, we all came back to Grandma Jacki's for a weenie roast & cookout. Only, due to the rain, we didn't roast anything, but had a great grilled hotdog supper!:)
Checking out the Armadillo!

No so sure about that big spider! Can't say I blame her!

VBS was a definite success. The kids LOVED jamming to their VBS CD, and sang along so well. I mean, can't you tell from the picture below that they had such a great time at VBS??
Meet Mr. & Mrs. Stoneface.

They did miniature motions.....

They were WIPED OUT by this point in the week. To prove that, they slept until 8:30am the next morning, which has happened on MAYBE 3 occasions. Usually, it's 7am at the latest on a Saturday!

Grandma Mandy, Aunt Debbie & Grandma Pat, and Grandma Jacki -- thank you soo much for a great week for these kiddos. I love hearing them sing along with their CD and talk about what they learned last week. They really did have a good time. More than anything, they were loved on and spoiled and every once in a great while, that's just what these two kiddos deserve. Thanks for loving them!

Get Well Soon, Grandpa Kent

Here's the best way to share Dad's video. Thank you all so much for submitting the clips. This really made him smile (and say some funny things the first time we watched soon after anesthesia). I think it will be treasured company this evening in the hospital. Thank you for your prayers, your thoughts, for answering the phone calls and lifting Dad up. We appreciate all your love and support.  58E2238E-D2E3-4B38-9FF6-AE1E502ABD14.mp4

Covid ... the end. (Hopefully. Maybe. I really don't know....)

Almost two years ago, exactly, our world drastically changed. Everyone holed up at home, scared to enter the world and catch Covid 19/Corona Virus. (Except Jason, once he got to feeling better from most likely having Covid before it was a known thing, he just went to work everyday like nothing had changed). The world basically shut down  -- special hours, curbside pick up encouraged, no dining room service only drive through or carryout. If someone coughed or sneezed anywhere near you, you were instantly suspicious. Our parents lived on complete edge and worry, taking in every ounce of information the news was constantly throwing in their faces. It was a time of great uncertainty, lots of information being thrown at us from trusted news sources, social media, and hearsay from those in the medical profession.  We spent March to May just trying to figure out our new life. No baseball. No softball. Lots of time with our animals. Lots of crafts. School from home. Porch drop ...

April - Hey Batter, Batter...

April is always the month that makes us think spring is FINALLY here, because it's starting to warm up, suns starting to shine more, except when we finally get to the baseball/softball fields, it's just as cold as it was in February. Thankfully, Emmalyn had an indoor sport to carry us through the cold of the month, until baseball/softball really got kicked off! Emmalyn tried something new this year and participated in CiVic vollebyall. This is a club program out of Carroll County, and she practiced every Sunday from January through April. Finally in late April she had three play dates. One Saturday we played up at Fairmount, IN. Grandma Jacki, Keaton and I went with Emmalyn, while Dad, Grandpa and Colton cut down some trees in preparation for our spring projects. Emmalyn and Mae Ella did a wonderful job for their team, both rocked their serving and seemed to know the game and keep their cool better than some on the team. The second weekend Dad, Em & Mom traveled to Triton H...
