Emmalyn - Preschool Year 1 - in the books...

It's hard to believe all that's really happened in the last 10 months. Let's recap a bit...

- we welcomed Keaton into our family and became a family of 5 (this is where the chaos begins).
- Emmalyn started her first year of Preschool at Chalmers Discovering H.A.N.D.S.
- Colton started Kindergarten.
- Emmalyn went on a field trip to the pumpkin patch.
- We survived Colton's first parent teacher conference.
- Jason turned 33.
- Em did a fantastic job in her Christmas program at Preschool.
- We took a much needed adult night get away to Indy as a Christmas gift to each other.
- We returned to puking kids, and then puking adults.
- We survived the worst winter we've had a in LONG time, including the polar vortex
- Colton turned 6.
- Keaton had a cold. For at least 3 straight months.
- Keaton got 5 teeth.
- Keaton started moving -- EVERYWHERE.
- Colton started baseball.
- Emmalyn had an Easter Party at school that I chaperoned.
- We hosted Jason's family for Easter at our home.
- Jason picked up a side job working to repair his parents garage (tornado damage).
- Keaton turned into a tornado.
- Colton had Muffins with Mom.
- Colton had a research presentation. In Kindergarten. (More to come on that)
- Colton had Donuts with Dad.
- Keaton fell down the stairs. All of them. From the top.
- Emmalyn had her first dentist appointment.
- Emmalyn had an end of year program.
- Emmalyn had an end of year picnic.
- Colton had a field trip to the Children's Museum.

I'm sure that really doesn't even begin to cover the half of what's really happened...that's just the stuff I can remember, but holy smokes....it's been BUSY. I really do feel like having a baby right before your first child starts Kindergarten is quite possibly the worst possible time to become a family of five. Sometimes I feel like we look back and were frolicking in the sunshine, each of us holding one or the other child by the hand, and now -- we're lucky if we all get out the door with clean underwear on and we haven't forgotten the baby on the front step!! But, we've made it. It might be messy (the house, our life, the van...) but we've survived. Colton has thrived in Kindergarten. Emmalyn graduated her first year of preschool and continues to amaze us with the things she knows at just 3 years old. And Keaton --  Keaton's still alive to tell about it and still his smiley, happy go lucky self... so I'd say we've done okay. Jason and I might have a few more gray hairs (me more than him, I blame genetics), but they say it's not about the destination, it's about the journey. And we are sure filling our journey with lots of fun and memories. And gray hairs.

So long rant aside...suffice it to say, that the fact that the big kids are wrapping up their school years already, is KINDOF hard for me to believe. I have a feeling in a few quick blinks of the eye, my next post will be about their high school graduations. Lord help us time moves too fast.

Emmalyn finished up her first year of preschool this week and what a fun week it was. Class Tuesday, class and program Wednesday, and fun end of year picnic on Thursday. We added to the celebration by adding a few extra girls to our fun Thursday afternoon. The pictures are below, but we are so thankful for the fun friendships Em has gathered this year, along with all of her school skills. She's off to a great start and we couldn't be more proud!
They sang us a few songs they had learned!

Then were awarded their certificate of completion.

Then they got cake, balloons and a picture book of memories! Love this beautiful little smile!
Post-preschool picnic.
Dandelion Wishes.

Creek fun. Madi was not sure. Not sure at all.

Doc McStuffin's Fans?

Loved jumping in the creek!

Emmalyn told the girls they should wash their bellies....their giggles were tons of fun.

Madi FINALLY came around! Such a cutie!

What playdate wouldn't be complete without viewing Frozen? Loved hearing them sing along!

Emmalyn -- you are growing up before our very eyes. In fact, even though I forgot until Thursday night when Grandma reminded me...NEXT WEEK you will be FOUR years old. That does not hardly seem possible. You are beautiful. You have a vibrant spirit. You are kind. You are funny. And you know how to make your Daddy cave in with a simple little bat of the eye. Love you to pieces, EmmeLou!

Get Well Soon, Grandpa Kent

Here's the best way to share Dad's video. Thank you all so much for submitting the clips. This really made him smile (and say some funny things the first time we watched soon after anesthesia). I think it will be treasured company this evening in the hospital. Thank you for your prayers, your thoughts, for answering the phone calls and lifting Dad up. We appreciate all your love and support.  58E2238E-D2E3-4B38-9FF6-AE1E502ABD14.mp4

Covid ... the end. (Hopefully. Maybe. I really don't know....)

Almost two years ago, exactly, our world drastically changed. Everyone holed up at home, scared to enter the world and catch Covid 19/Corona Virus. (Except Jason, once he got to feeling better from most likely having Covid before it was a known thing, he just went to work everyday like nothing had changed). The world basically shut down  -- special hours, curbside pick up encouraged, no dining room service only drive through or carryout. If someone coughed or sneezed anywhere near you, you were instantly suspicious. Our parents lived on complete edge and worry, taking in every ounce of information the news was constantly throwing in their faces. It was a time of great uncertainty, lots of information being thrown at us from trusted news sources, social media, and hearsay from those in the medical profession.  We spent March to May just trying to figure out our new life. No baseball. No softball. Lots of time with our animals. Lots of crafts. School from home. Porch drop ...

April - Hey Batter, Batter...

April is always the month that makes us think spring is FINALLY here, because it's starting to warm up, suns starting to shine more, except when we finally get to the baseball/softball fields, it's just as cold as it was in February. Thankfully, Emmalyn had an indoor sport to carry us through the cold of the month, until baseball/softball really got kicked off! Emmalyn tried something new this year and participated in CiVic vollebyall. This is a club program out of Carroll County, and she practiced every Sunday from January through April. Finally in late April she had three play dates. One Saturday we played up at Fairmount, IN. Grandma Jacki, Keaton and I went with Emmalyn, while Dad, Grandpa and Colton cut down some trees in preparation for our spring projects. Emmalyn and Mae Ella did a wonderful job for their team, both rocked their serving and seemed to know the game and keep their cool better than some on the team. The second weekend Dad, Em & Mom traveled to Triton H...
