So, a few weeks ago....we camped at the "big woods" with Wiese's, Holderly's, Layton's and it was a great time...Friday night.
Saturday, us Mom's planned to "get away" and do the "Foam Glow 5K" in Indy. So, Saturday about 11am, I headed home and Jason and the kids stayed at the woods. When I got home, I walked in, put the mail on the table and noticed a bee. No big deal, I thought, swatted it with the mail and went on my way tidying up and unloading my stuff.
As I walked into the living room, it's like I could hear a buzz, and as I started to look around...I noticed a bunch of bees. I mean a BUNCH of bees. As I started to look up, I noticed they were lining the inside of the windows, INSIDE my living room. They were hovering near the creases in my ceiling where the ceiling met the walls. So, knowing there were so many in the living room, and scared to death, I started to check out the other rooms, and frantically call Jason, and decide how to best not flip out. (You've seen MyGirl, right? I was not about to die via bee stings.....and that's all I could think of. Well, that and this).
Thankfully, though oddly enough, they were 99% in our living room, and maybe 1% throughout the rest of the house. A couple here, a couple there and really, not any upstairs. Lazy bees. I showered, packed, and told the girls I was starting the carpool pick up early, because I was NOT hanging out at home!
You can even see where they'd busted through some insulation (thanks to Colton leaving a shirt randomly behind the couch...)
Of course, I had to snap all these photos as proof of me not being CRAZY ...but apparently, bees don't like paparazzi...........and they let me know as much.
Touche, bees. How'd you like that Dairy Aerosol that I sprayed like Febreeze as I ran out the door?
Thankfully, I've got an awesome Uncle Jim who recently picked up bee keeping and honey making in his retirement, so I had a resource, and an Aunt & Uncle with a big enough hearts to come meet Jason that evening to check it out, sweep up the dead ones, plug the hole he thought they were coming in through, and prescribe the next steps. Jason thought the full bee suit might have scared our extremely wore out children, but they've not had too many nightmares since, so I think we survived it.
I mean, survived is an understatement. This is just the first round of DEAD ones...
That following Monday, we had Reliable come out and drop a bomb in the attic, and by Tuesday, Jason had figured out where they were coming in/out. For now, the bee issue is fixed.
Oh, and we had a BLAST at the Foam Glow 5K while all this was going down. Good times with great girlfriends!
