The first Knockout Classic was so fun (and easy) being at our hometown fairgrounds, we decided to do the second one too. Same set up, 3 days after the fair! We added our baseball friends the Miller's to this show, and Keaton got to show for the first time too. It was a great afternoon/evening. Grandma & Grandpa came to watch the kids, and Uncle Trent, Aunt Stef & David came too!
The dad's liked these open shows because the kids helped the kids, and they got to have a cold beer and enjoy the kids doing what they love! Emmalyn showed in her class with Mya Holderly!
Keaton was so excited to jump into the ring and show for the first time. Jason & Colton were great teachers and he did an awesome job in the ring. He can't wait to get back out there!
We still had one open show left in us for the summer -- the Miami County Rona Renegade Round Up. As so many things were being shut down and taken from our kids, it was fun to watch the Agriculture industry stand up for the kids. #letthekidsshow became a popular hashtag and like anyone in the farming industry knows -- you can't not plant the crop or feed the animals because of a global pandemic. Many who attended these shows believed that the pandemic didn't need to stop the shows, and it didn't. Each one we went too had big crowds and full participation. It was just what our hearts needed.
Rona was fun because we went to Miami County and had a great day! Lehe's, Wieses and us made the trip and Adam was STOKED to see his idol Ryan Rash judge the show. The kids even got autographs and a photo with him after the show! Adalyn Belt came along with us to test out her interest in cattle too! She was a great help and does awesome around the calves!
All these shows helped further instill hardwork and caring for others in our kids. Skills far more valuable than any ribbon or trophy. I'm so proud watching them work together, taking an active role in fitting and being open ears to learning the best tips for showmanship. We may have missed sports, but we had a pretty great summer with our animals -- and Hank, Harlow, Homer & Lizzo will forever have a special place in our hearts!
