Our Aweful Beautiful Life

Colton had his 2nd Grade/Grandparents Day Program back in September, and I just realized I never took a minute to sneak pictures onto the blog. He did a GREAT job. He was excited to play a special part, the fisherman, and he knew I'd love it because it was a Dr. Seuss theme. He's right. I loved it. Even if he only half did the motions, because he was being too school for cool. Or maybe he had to go to the bathroom...because not 5 minutes AFTER this program, he was peeing in a Mountain Dew can in my van. In the parking lot of Lickety Split. With his Dad's permission. "I feel his pain", Jason said. "We are two minutes from our driveway"...I responded! Making memories, right? Regardless, I got a few cute pictures from the program. Our little guy did a great job, and is was Seussically amusing! Speaking of school events, Miss Em went on her first official Kindergarten field trip this month also. On October 21st, the Kindergarten classes loaded...

We seem to have started a new Fall Break tradition of heading down to Velpen and Stinson's. It's a great opportunity for Jason to hunt with his BFF from high school, I get to hang with said BFF's AMAZING wife, and the kids play well together. It's a great little retreat, but always goes WAY too fast! Here are a few photo highlights of the fun we had.... Oh, first of all...I've been trying to figure out this rash I've had. Remember I mentioned Jason and I starting a new high fat/low carb diet. Ya....I think we found out I'm allergic to coconut oil (or that my body doesn't like to ingest too much of it at once)...so I'd break out. Well, when it wouldn't go away, I went to urgent care. They first told me I had impitigo and I felt dirty. Then the test results came back, and apparently I had MRSA. EVEN. DIRTIER. Ugh....alas. So I was on an antibiotic and prednisone and I finally started to clear up and was feeling LESS like a leper........

As if going with Emmalyn to her fall field trip to Exploration Acres wasn't enough for one day...we also managed to sneak in Parent Teacher Conferences, then Dad & Keaton joined us at Kent's Pumpkin patch for our annual pumpkin & corn maze afternoon.  I love that Jason joins us for this, and the kids love leading him through the maze. Memories for years to come. We loved finding the little "statues" in the Kent's Corn Maze....well...most of us. You can see here Keaton didn't join in the funky family selfie...and Jason didn't get the funny face memo. Colton though....#nailedit.   Daddy also doesn't understand that you cannot tell a TWO YEAR OLD in a CORN MAZE that you are leaving them and go the other way....and expect them to laugh about it. Pretty sure Keaton was whipping out his usually, "daddy. MEAN." for this picture!  He got over it! :) So that evening....to complete our Fall Fun Adventure Day.....we carved pumpkin...

So remember how the boys went fishing this summer? I am so blessed that us girls get a "get even" weekend. It's a fun tradition we started a few years ago, and have really enjoyed these last two years. The maiden voyage was Mom, Jacki, Jesssica and I heading to Shipshewana and a Bed & Breakfast. The second year, we asked Jenna & Debbie to join us and we headed to Cincy to IKEA and the outlet malls. This year, we rented a cabin in beautiful Brown County, in the middle of October (on Jenna's birthday weekend, to be exact) and shopped Nashville, then the Edinburgh outlet mall. SUCH a great time. I'm so blessed that God gave me a Momma who has ALWAYS had my back, cheered me on, told me the HONEST truth (always....right Mom?), shares me whack sense of humor and loves without abandon. Oh, and we love sharing wine together, and what can possibly be more fun than drinking wine, sharing laughs and hugs with your mother. I'll tell you. NOT. MUCH. Memories. S...

This hashtag has been applied to most of my social media posts lately, and it's not lie.......Fall definitely IS my favorite season. Warm days. Cool nights. Nights on the farm. Full Saturdays and Sundays on the farm. Combine rides. Tractor rides. Semi Rides. We added Fall Baseball to the agenda this fall, and potty training....so to say it's been anything but eventful in our life lately is a lie. But our hearts are so full. A few Saturday's ago, I was woken at 7:30am, with Colton in my face saying, "Mom, um, I woke up and saw that it was light out, and figured out it was Saturday, and then realized it was going to be the best day of my life, because we get to go farming today!"................BE. STILL. MY. HEART. I absolutely LOVE the passion my children have for agriculture. How blessed we are to know this life. And farm we did....from lunch on the end rows, sitting on blankets, to playing in the beans, to watching beans fall out of Em's pants as she pre...

So, a few weeks ago....we camped at the "big woods" with Wiese's, Holderly's, Layton's and it was a great time...Friday night. Saturday, us Mom's planned to "get away" and do the "Foam Glow 5K" in Indy. So, Saturday about 11am, I headed home and Jason and the kids stayed at the woods. When I got home, I walked in, put the mail on the table and noticed a bee. No big deal, I thought, swatted it with the mail and went on my way tidying up and unloading my stuff. As I walked into the living room, it's like I could hear a buzz, and as I started to look around...I noticed a bunch of bees. I mean a BUNCH of bees.  As I started to look up, I noticed they were lining the inside of the windows, INSIDE my living room. They were hovering near the creases in my ceiling where the ceiling met the walls. So, knowing there were so many in the living room, and scared to death, I started to check out the other rooms, and frantically call ...
