Interview with Colton

So, I spent an ample amount of time on pinterest last week and stumbled upon this cute idea to interview your kids every 6 months or so, to see how their answers change. It's a great way to log a moment in time and capture what's important to them at the time. I borrowed the idea from this cute little blog, which I stumbled upon via pinterest: Kid Interviews. So...here's my go at my first interview with Colton. I'll be chatting with Em tonight, and hoping to have a few answers from her tomorrow! :)

My name is: "Colton"

I am "4" years old.

The yummiest food to eat is: "Oranges. And eggs & sausage...that's what we had for breakfast, right Mom?"

My favorite show to watch is: "Oso. And Hunting with my Dad"

I love when I get to read: "The Balloon Farm" Harvey Potter's Balloon Farm

The best thing about school is: "Playing with my friends"

The worst thing about school is: "Coloring."

The coolest person on earth is: "Aiden Owens"

I am really super good at: "Hunting. Did you know I was going to say that, Mom?"

My favorite color is: "Green. And Orange"

The best place in the world to be is: "Alavama" *yes, he pronounces it with a V*

When I grow up, I want to: "work with my dad"

If I could do one thing all day long it would be: "Hunting".

I really, really do not like to eat: "Green beans. Only the beans, not the green"

My best friend is: "Kendall. And Aiden Owens"

Jesus is: "My favorite"

When I was little I used to: "My mom used to hold me, but mom still holds me but I break her back"

3 words that tell about me: "Funny, mean, sassy" (note that used sassy as a word to help him learn what adjectives were...I'm not sure he would have used sassy otherwise!)

This year I hope to learn: "how to go deer hunting"

Some other things we've heard lately:

"Aunt Marsha -- my Mom is getting mad at you because you won't let us pay for anything"...

 "um, my dad, um he comes home and takes off his boots and puts them away and then takes off his clothes and goes in on the couch and turns it to hunting" -- he told Stacy this while they stayed with her and Clay on Jason's birthday. 
“I don’t even ask, I just get up there and do his job.” (referring to helping grandpa Brad at the Elevator) - again, to Stacy...he's just full of information.

Our little gymnasts...don't mind sissy -- we're still working on her "lady-like-ness"...HAHA

Covid ... the end. (Hopefully. Maybe. I really don't know....)

 Almost two years ago, exactly, our world drastically changed. Everyone holed up at home, scared to enter the world and catch Covid 19/Corona Virus. (Except Jason, once he got to feeling better from most likely having Covid before it was a known thing, he just went to work everyday like nothing had changed). The world basically shut down  -- special hours, curbside pick up encouraged, no dining room service only drive through or carryout. If someone coughed or sneezed anywhere near you, you were instantly suspicious. Our parents lived on complete edge and worry, taking in every ounce of information the news was constantly throwing in their faces. It was a time of great uncertainty, lots of information being thrown at us from trusted news sources, social media, and hearsay from those in the medical profession.  We spent March to May just trying to figure out our new life. No baseball. No softball. Lots of time with our animals. Lots of crafts. School from home. Porch drop ...

April - Hey Batter, Batter...

April is always the month that makes us think spring is FINALLY here, because it's starting to warm up, suns starting to shine more, except when we finally get to the baseball/softball fields, it's just as cold as it was in February. Thankfully, Emmalyn had an indoor sport to carry us through the cold of the month, until baseball/softball really got kicked off! Emmalyn tried something new this year and participated in CiVic vollebyall. This is a club program out of Carroll County, and she practiced every Sunday from January through April. Finally in late April she had three play dates. One Saturday we played up at Fairmount, IN. Grandma Jacki, Keaton and I went with Emmalyn, while Dad, Grandpa and Colton cut down some trees in preparation for our spring projects. Emmalyn and Mae Ella did a wonderful job for their team, both rocked their serving and seemed to know the game and keep their cool better than some on the team.
