Hi Baby #3! Only 4 more weeks (perhaps less...if you feel so inclined) until you arrive. I've not taken much time on this blog to talk about you/this pregnancy. All in all, it's been pretty much the same as before. I have had increased back pain carrying you around -- I for one like to think it's because you're destined to be a 12lb baby...but Doc Wickert says, "let's face it. It's your third baby!"....so I'll suck it up, deal with some back pain and count down the days until we will meet, and hopefully, that pain will go away. I distinctly remember leaving the office that day, thinking, "If I'm in this kind of pain on pregnancy #3...........how on EARTH did Grandma Hall survive 9 of these?". Once again ... if she can do it, I better suck it up too, huh?
I wanted to share/capture this story, because I hope that some day you can look back on this post and laugh. Although your Dad and I have created a list of potential names for you to take with us to the hospital, we've not completely narrowed it down yet. Your sister, on the other hand, has had you named from the day she found out you were a boy. I don't know if you remember, but we did a "reveal" party when we found out if you were a boy/girl...Baby Reveal Party. That night, I believe all four grandparents immediately asked us for name ideas...or what we had in mind. Somehow, I think Grandpa Kent and Emmalyn got ahold of the name Connor....which, to be honest, has never hit our list as potential names for you. Connor Flinn & Connor Dawson being 2nd cousins to you, pretty well eliminated that name from our list as "already used". A good name, yes, but please don't be offended when you get here if we call you whatever we decide to name you, and Emmalyn still calls you Connor. To be clear, she wanted to name one of our new cows Connor too. And still, 4 months later, when people ask her about the baby in mommy's belly she says, "It's a boy. Baby Connoh".....she's still perfecting the "er" sound at the end! :)
And then, baby, there's your "Aunt" Jenna. Do you know how BORING our lives would be without these great people to share life with? Aunt Jenna can ALWAYS give us a good laugh. Keep in mind, by the time you can probably read this, you and the baby boy growing inside Jenna's belly, will probably be BFF, and you'll both be laughing at this story. I hope anyway. I'm still giggling.... a week later. So, recently we were all together, and Seth & Jenna were asking us about what we might name you. We said we hadn't really decided, but Mom wants to have your name end in the "n" sound, because, well, Colton & Emmalyn both do -- so I don't want you to be left out. I'd also mentioned that night that I'd love a name with some sort of Irish heritage to it, because of the Schrader Irish in us. That's all the farther the conversation went, really. A week later, I get a text from Aunt Jenna saying that "I had a dream about what you named your baby. You have to call me". I. WAS. SCARED. But I finally got up the nerve to ask, and here's what she said....
- We (your Dad and I) were telling everyone who asked what we might name you, that we were going to call you Denning. However, I pulled Jenna aside and told her "We're not really naming him Denning, that's just what we're telling everyone. We've narrowed it down to Carsyn & Pierre".....
Yes, baby Pierre, that's how you got your name. JUST KIDDING!!! I, between belly laughs, asked Jenna what on earth made her come up with these names. Seth piped up that perhaps Jenna does drugs right before bed. Jenna said ice cream before bed gives her crazy dreams, remember, she's pregnant too. Ice cream before bed is perfectly acceptable. (I mean, how do you think you got to be a 12 lb baby??) Then she explained herself -- she imagines that her mind went to Carsyn because of the "n" ending -- which is logical, but again, there is already a Carson in the extended family. And as for Pierre (which, know that you know your Aunt Jenna, you know she said EVERY TIME with the sophisticated french accent), she said that she knew we wanted to name the baby perhaps something Irish......................except that Pierre is definitely NOT Irish, but more French. So. Ya. I'm with Seth. I think Aunt Jenna did drugs before bed.
Regardless, a fun story to hang on to. Baby Connoh, Carsyn, Pierre.....or whatever you end up being named...we're so excited for you to get here. Your brother & sister ask to feel you move in my belly often. And, Emmalyn's convinced that when you're not moving, you're taking a nap and taking your bottle. Hoping the next four weeks go quickly -- we can't wait to hold you in our arms! :)
