Holy cow, it's already the first day of summer. And, in just a few short days, we'll officially be 35 weeks pregnant -- just 5 more weeks to go. CRAZY! As excited as we are to meet baby number 3, we do not want to wish away a summer of fun with Colton & Emmalyn. Unfortunately, it seems like every time we blink, another week has past! I'm afraid at this pace, summer will be gone before we know it!
What have we been up to --
- Tee-ball games every Saturday. Colton's got a great coach for his first year in tee-ball and he's LOVING it. Like, waking up every Saturday morning and wanting to be full-regala dressed by 8:30am LOVING it. (Games are usually at either 10:30 or 12). Sadly, we play our last game tomorrow morning -- but I know Colton's learned a lot about the basics of the game and has done a great job of hitting off the pitching machine this year. Kudos kiddo, on embracing your first year in an organized team sport. You've made new friends, learned new skills, and promised me and Dad you'll always "try your best", which is all we could ask for!
- Both kids have been taking private swimming lessons during the month of June. A friend of ours was taking her girl, and I was so impressed by the videos she shared that I wanted to check this lady out. Holly is her name, and the kids love her. She's so gentle with them, yet pushes them to try new things and be brave in the water. Or, in Emmalyn's case -- not QUITE so brave. I've got video to share, but will try to work on that this weekend. I'm really pleased with what both kids are learning and Emmalyn tells everyone -- When I ask her tell people about swimming lessons -- "Her's name is Holly and her's pools in hers house!" She thinks it's just crazy that Holly's pool is in her house! :) It's been a little more expensive than lessons at the local pools, etc -- but 100% worth it. My kids are certainly benefiting from the one on one and with Gram & Gramps pool, safety comes first!!
- Jason's been working like a DOG, which is both a blessing and a curse. He's raking in some serious overtime, which is awesome come payday, but I know he's got to be worn out. It's not like overtime at a desk job...his job is pretty physical. We're very proud of how hard a worker Daddy is, and I know it's a lesson he's teaching well to his two kiddos. They love the outdoors, thanks to their dad. Given the option of cartoons first thing in the morning, Colton argues by asking if he can ride his bike outside instead. And he typically does for a bit, before we even leave for Pam's at 7:30am.
- Emmalyn got to go along on a "special day" with Mom & Grandma shortly after her birthday. She had back to back doctor appointment, and Mom and I always love a good excuse to shop, so the three of us tackled the town on June 5th. We had a great day, and little miss shopper Emmalyn was so much fun!
- Colton also got a "special day" with Mom, just last week. We met the girls for lunch, ran errands at Menards, then home to prep for our dentist appointment. He does so well at the dentist and so far, is cavity free! (Mom too! WOO WOO!) Emmalyn will join us when we go back at the first of the year. Anxious to see how she does with it too!
The kids are so much fun right now. I think I say that each time I blog, but honestly, they are. There are days when they pick at one another (Colton, how often do I tell you (and your dad) QUIT ANTAGONIZING!!!), but honestly, 8/10 times they are playing so well together. They giggle and follow each other around.
And Colton, thanks for being willing to take one for the team. I've gotten the biggest kick out of you/Emmalyn lately. You'll test your boundaries (perhaps it's your age?) a bit more than she will, and when you end up in the corner, or I have to remind you that when asked to do something, you should respond, "Okay Mom!".........Emmalyn is quick to follow up with a one-liner that proves she's learned the lesson. If I asked her to get her sippy cup before bed, she's quick to say, "okay Mom", then grin like -- "see what I just did there. I did what you asked, even though bubby didn't". She also notices when you have to spend time in the corner, and is quick to say she won't do whatever it is you just did, to avoid her own corner time. Thanks for being a great teacher to your little sister. I'm sure it'll be her turn to pass along those hard lessons once Baby Boy gets here.
