Stitches

There's a song that's popular right now, called Stitches. We love it. It's catchy, and fun to dance to. Little did we know this would soon become our theme song....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbfpW0pbvaU

So, Friday afternoon I was at work, and had done my what seemed daily check on Keaton's potty training progress. She texted back, "call me"....and I got so excited, because he gets to call when he poops in the potty! So, I excitedly dial the phone, only to hear Pam say..."um, we've got a puker"............................NOT what I wanted to hear. Especially since we had a girls day planned for the next day, down in Bloomington to FINALLY see Lindsay since she'd moved to Evansville. To make matters worse, Abby, Natalie's little girl, was puking two, which means 2/4 of us had puking children. By 9pm, Em had joined the ralphin ranks, and I just knew the rest of us were to follow.

Fast forward to Sunday -- only Keaton and Em had fallen, and somehow, the rest of us skated by. Thankfully, those two had a short lived version of the puking flu. So, Em and I took advantage of a "girls day" of running errands and getting groceries. As we were heading home, I called back to check on Jason and the boys, and his report was all good. Totally cool. The boys are being great in the barn, big help, having a blast, "TAKE YOUR TIME"...........................

Less than FIVE MINUTES later, he calls me back, with a frantic voice, and says, "where are you? you need to come home right now. Keaton needs to go to the ER".................."SAY WHAT?!"

When I get home, I see a worked up Colton waiting for me at the door, and find a chilled out Keaton in the bathroom after getting out of the bath. With a big gash on your face, Dad tells me that you and Colton were working in the barn, and Colton didn't realize he had a little shadow following him around, and accidentally got you in the face with a shingle shovel.

So, off we went to Urgent Care, because I'd called them and they could do stitches. Whew. Good. Except, when we got there, the nurse looked, confirmed stitches, then sent us to the ER, because they don't sedate, and she was afraid you wouldn't sit still. (Name me ONE two year old who sits perfectly still for stitches....on their FACE.)

So, to the ER we went, and Dad called Gram & Gramp's Stockment to come hang with the other two so he could join me. After a long wait, the doc stitched you up -- 4 stitches total and you only started crying after the 3rd one!! You were SO BRAVE. We get you your promised Frosty, and head home to Gram & Gramps and the kids....including a much relieved Colton.

Off to Pam's on Monday, back to normal only with a giant stitched up gash on your face. By late afternoon, it was red and warm around the stitches, and was oozing a bit of puss. When your temp spiked, I texted a few people, trying to decide what to do. And when Aunt Jess gave that final, "better safe than sorry"....I finally took off again, at nearly 10pm. And because it was so late, back to the ER we went. Much to our surprise, some of the same folks were there -- and the nurse that held you down, even remembered you. We liked him, he was a great nurse and helped you feel at ease. They confirmed infection, were surprised no one had prescribed anything the day before (let's face it, a dirty shovel in the barn isn't going to produce a "clean" wound....). They gave you a shot of meds (twice, because the nurse missed the first time), and sent us on our way. We finally got back home at 2am, after having to wait 30 minutes at the only CVS that was open 24 hours and happened to be on the OPPOSITE side of town...........because, apparently, at 1am, it's a pretty happening place. Tired Mommy was pretty irritated that we had to wait that long, but you cheered me right up when you started giggling at the movie in the van, and then repeating, "funky buttlovin!"...............not our best moment, but a moment of hilarity in a tense 48 hours....we'll take it!

You've survived. You're healing. Your scar is still there but will go away with time. You were certainly brave. And now, when we jam to stitches, it's officially your song! Well, your song & Emmalyn's. She says you get the stitches part, and she gets the "trippin over myself" line! HAHA!

Get Well Soon, Grandpa Kent

Here's the best way to share Dad's video. Thank you all so much for submitting the clips. This really made him smile (and say some funny things the first time we watched soon after anesthesia). I think it will be treasured company this evening in the hospital. Thank you for your prayers, your thoughts, for answering the phone calls and lifting Dad up. We appreciate all your love and support.  58E2238E-D2E3-4B38-9FF6-AE1E502ABD14.mp4

Two + Two + One more = FIVE

Yup, you read that right, by the end of July, the Stockment's will officially be a family of five. Jason and I learned in mid-November that we were expecting our third child and we were both overjoyed with the news. (More so than I thought Jason would be -- he wasn't convinced on having another (or should I say, not as convinced as I was), but once he saw that baby's heartbeating on the monitor at the docs office, he couldn't keep it a secret anymore!!) I convinced Jason to keep our news to immediate family, however, failed to remember that we have a VERY chatty 4 year old, and a 2 year old who repeats everything her big bro says! :) So, we told our families on a Tuesday evening (after our doc appointment that afternoon) and by Thursday, I think half of White County knew. If you attend or drop children off to attend Pam's daycare or Bright Beginnings Preschool, you were amongst the first to know! I had hoped for some elaborate scheme to tell both of our parents ...

Life's Beachy

What a whirlwind month March has been! From the baby reveal to birthday parties (Madi turning 3, Sawyer turning 2 and soon Brad & Debbie!), to Jason working weekend after weekend at his side job, to moving Matt & Sarah into their new home, to Jason getting a new job, to kindergarten round up, to preparing for Florida....whew! Yup, you read that right -- after 14 years with Bouma Betten, Jason is making a jump. He applied for a job with Monsanto in Remington, and was lucky enough to be offered the job just last week. I am so beyond proud of him -- he's not a resume/interview kind of guy, but he put his best foot forward and proved what a hard worker he is. He'll start there as a Seed Tech in mid-April and although it will mean big changes for him (and US!), it will be worth it. The benefits cannot be topped...vacation time, paid time off for sick leave, 401K, health -- all things he didn't have (or did have, but not great) in his current job. It will certainly be a...
