Labor Day Weekend Shenanigans

Typically, we spend our Labor Day weekends at a campground, soaking up the last bits of summer sunshine.  Because we didn't have any group plans with our camping buddies this year, we checked with Seth & Jenna about camping together somewhere. Just as we started to make those plans/reservations, Jason found out he'd be working overtime at a factory shutdown both Sunday & Monday, so we didn't make any reservations. Seth & Jenna went ahead with reservations and we were set to do our own things.

Until that Tuesday before Labor Day, when Jason found out he'd not be working, and we decided we wanted to do something fun with you kids. So, we decided to use a Hyatt night I had saved up, and bought tickets to the last Indianapolis Indians homegame for the season, and planned a fun over night in Indy. On Wednesday, Jenna called, and after bragging about reserving the LAST spot at the Potato Creek Campground, found out that apparently you have to have horses to camp in the horse camping section of that campground. Who knew. So, I pitched our idea, told them they were free to join, and that they did.

We both left at separate times, but randomly pulled into the Valet lot RIGHT behind each other. We couldn't have timed that better had we tried to. We unloaded our goods, and moved into our rooms. Then moved rooms. Then moved rooms again. Finally, by the third room, with a manager by our side, we had connecting rooms, and soon after, each room got a tray of 5 cookies for the run around!

We took off to the pool, as promised, then a quick visit to the Eagle's Nest and catch the view. Finally, we took off for Victory Field. You kids were EXCELLENT at the game, and the post-win Fireworks were awesome!! We ventured downtown for a late night BW's dinner, then back to the hotel to crash!

Sunday morning we lazed around the hotel, Emmalyn got her hair done by Jenna, and the 4 boys had an underwear WWE match on the hotel beds!

Then we left town for brunch at "Another Broken Egg" in Carmel, and you kids schemed up a bonfire/cookout for that night at Seth & Jen's.  Only our families would spend the night in Indy together, only to come back home and hang out some more! We had a great weekend get away.  Always fun when you get to go with your best friends/cousins/camping buddies to the big city!
