December.

So we kicked off December with Stefanie's Bridal Shower & the Stockment Christmas Outing. What a great way to kick off a fun month!! I also go to volunteer at the kids Christmas Shoppe at school -- what a fun way to volunteer my time to the PTO. Watching little kids eyes light up as the buy such "treasures" for their loved ones was really a job. Definitely got me into the Christmas spirit!

One the second weekend of December, we headed to Colton's ball game, then home to basically dump the kids off to Madi & Ryne Sailors, and me head out the door for Stef's Bachelorette Party. Jason had already taken off for Michigan City with Trent & the guys (despite Trent having a touch of the flu...boo to that on your bachelorette day!

Us girls weren't sick though -- we had a GREAT time. We boarded a bus at Brent & Natasha's house and headed to Saddle Up Saloon in Indianapolis. Yes, I rode the mechanical bull. No, it wasn't pretty. Yes, I kept Grandma off of it too. Your back is welcome Grandma. As is your knee! :) We had a great time celebrating our new sister to be!
By the third weekend we were sliding into Christmas break and lots of fun ahead. Emmalyn's class got to venture out on the 16th to Cumberland Point Nursing home to sing some carols and read to the residents. She had a great time spreading cheer!
The third weekend of December also brought our first Christmas -- the Stockment Christmas. We had a great time with Great Grandma Pat, and even got to have our cousins over earlier in the day to play before going to Great Grandmas!

The girls and Keaton had been playing with the aquadoodle, which was fine. Next thing I know, they holler at me from the dining room to come see their pool. And there they sat...all in swimsuits, sitting in their makeshift "pool".

We were now in the spirit full force, so we spent Sunday afternoon baking and decorating. Colton wasn't much in the mood - so he and Jason worked calves and the littles and I played in the kitchen!


The week leading up to Christmas was full of FUN. On Tuesday evening, the FES 3rd grade presented a Pirates & Elves play. Colton did a fantastic job -- as did his entire class. We really enjoyed watching and splurged on dinner at Pizza King with both grandparents afterwards.


Wednesday morning I got to attend the 1st semester awards, where Colton was awarded most improved as well as receiving the social studies award.  Dad and I couldn't be more proud of the progress you are making, and while third grade has certainly had it's share of ups and downs, we are so proud of you Colton. Don't ever give up! You got this!



Thursday night we met the kids requests again, and for the fourth year in a row - went caroling around Brookston. To up the ante this year, we added in a trip to McCords's candy's in Lafayette, where the kids got to make their own candy canes, as well as enjoy some hot chocolate & a cookie! It was a great afternoon evening, and we are continually blown away by these kiddos interest in continuing this tradition. I hope their hearts always want to spread cheer!





I'll stop here and put Christmas in it's own post. It's always a doozy, and this one has been too. How lucky we are to be able to partake in so many fun activities in this wonderfully blessed season!

Covid ... the end. (Hopefully. Maybe. I really don't know....)

 Almost two years ago, exactly, our world drastically changed. Everyone holed up at home, scared to enter the world and catch Covid 19/Corona Virus. (Except Jason, once he got to feeling better from most likely having Covid before it was a known thing, he just went to work everyday like nothing had changed). The world basically shut down  -- special hours, curbside pick up encouraged, no dining room service only drive through or carryout. If someone coughed or sneezed anywhere near you, you were instantly suspicious. Our parents lived on complete edge and worry, taking in every ounce of information the news was constantly throwing in their faces. It was a time of great uncertainty, lots of information being thrown at us from trusted news sources, social media, and hearsay from those in the medical profession.  We spent March to May just trying to figure out our new life. No baseball. No softball. Lots of time with our animals. Lots of crafts. School from home. Porch drop ...

Central Indiana Winter Spectacular

 We kicked off show season with this set of calves in mid-January at the Central Indiana Winter Spectacular, a first time show down in Cloverdale, Indiana. I'm not sure what was more fun - being with our kids and friends at a cattle show, or listening to our kids meddle over the thought of staying in a Motel 6.  (Backstory on this one -- when I worked at Purdue/in the Conference division, I held a few conference at The Hyatt in downtown Indianapolis. When I had events there, I'd earn points. We then would use those points for free night stays....I think I had maybe 15 or so over the years. So, the only hotel my kids know, is a Hyatt, because unbeknownst to them, it was FREE.....which is the ONLY reason we stayed in such a nice place with young kids. So, imagine their dismay when the Motel 6 in Cloverdale didn't have an Eagles Nest rotating up top, or an indoor pool and hot tub/workout area. We have officially raised hotel snobs.....because when we finally took them to the k...
