2018 was pretty solid year. Health. Happiness. Trips. Games. Growth. And Milestones. None bigger than the 40/60 Milestones Grandma and Grandpa Hall surpassed this year. In August & September they each turned 60 years old. Then in November, they celebrated 40 years of marriage. We wanted to do a party, but after surprise parties for 40 & 50, they were onto us. We considered a 40th Anniversary dinner party, semi-recreating their wedding reception, but that flopped since their wedding fell around Thanksgiving and the start to the holidays. So, we planned a trip. The best time to get away seemed to be over New Year's eve, just after Christmas, so we booked the trip.
Even though we couldn't check into the house until 4pm on Saturday, we decided we'd head up early and hit Bass Pro Shops for fun on the drive up. Trent & Stef joined us for a fun afternoon.
Matt and Sarah were unsure if/when they'd leave as George and Margaret had puked in the night. Mom & Dad left at 1pm from Woclott. Amazingly, as we were trekking across I-80/94 from Bass Pro, we saw a white van speed up behind us, lay on the horn, and race past us. Apparently, Matt and Sarah had left, and eventually beat us to the house! GO FIGURE! We spent the first evening making homemade pizza, cheering on our Boilers and just enjoying the house in general!
Sunday we went to church, then home to a big breakfast and to hang out around the house. There was so much for the kids to do, it was perfect! We played outside some on the tennis courts & basketball hoop, and walked the long tree lined drive. We did some sledding too.
By mid-afternoon curiosity got the best of us, and us girls took off around the corner (literally, 5 minute drive) to McIntosh Winery for a tasting! It was a fun little adventure.
We came back to get ready for a fancy dinner out at The Butler to celebrate Mom & Dad's 40th Anniversary!
Monday was New Year's Eve so we chilled around the house, then decided to take the kids into town to a Bowling Alley. It was a great afternoon. Mom had planned a fun little "NYE Party" back at the house -- and we had the best time together.
We were so happy to celebrate Mom's health, the health of our whole family, 40 years of marriage and 60 wonderful years of two of our favorite people. New Years Eve 2019 was one for the books!
We are sad to leave 2018 behind, it went by in a blink....but excited for what 2019 has in store! Cheers to the best in 2019!!
