Working Mothers Guilt...

Tuesday, 16 June 2009 Just when I start to get a bad case of working mothers guilt (you know, where you start to realize you don't spend near enough time in a day swinging "twinkle, twinkle little star" or going through colors or animal sounds or all those other things that will make your child a genius by the age of 3) -- my child starts randomly doing this... God Bless Pam, and thank you to her for doing all the things that I can't while I am at work all day. Being a working mom isn't easy, and certainly, there is daily guilt for not getting to do these things myself with my child, but overall, Colton knows he is loved, and loves to spend time with me, as much as Pam....we're lucky to have such a great daycare provider. And of course, a cute kid.....don't you love the way his head bobs? HA

Holy Redneck Hubs...

I don't know if I've mentioned it here, but aside from all the great things about this house, there are three things that right now, could quite possibly send me to an insane asylum. 1.) Ants 2.) Mice 3.) (and the most obnoxious/troublemaking) PINE SQUIRELLS! So, about two weeks ago, on a Monday night, Seth came out to visit, and as we sat and visited, I thought that I could smell something in our living room. I couldn't quite make out what it was, it was only coming in whiffs. On Tuesday, I decided to investigate. (Let me backtrack a little further here, and background this story with the fact that often times, when I'm home on a day off, or home by myself, Jason will recieve a call from me informing him that I hear "critters" in the wall/attic/ceiling. I felt like I could hear them climbing up and down the pipes attached to the shower/bar area) I always refer to them as critters, because I honestly had no idea what they were -- racoons, mi...

Memorial Day Camping Trip

Tuesday, 26 May 2009 Well, I sit here at home on a rainy Tuesday afternoon, thankful that mother nature was on our side Friday-Monday, while we went camping over our long weekend. I'm glad that I took today off too, just to catch up on housework, laundry & rest! What a perfect day to want to be restful -- me & Colton, lots of rain (mixed with some sun) and left over homemade cookies! :) Now, if only I hadn't run out of milk! We had such a great weekend. About four years ago we started a tradition of camping with Jenni & Nathan Biehl, Seth & Jenna Maxwell, and whomever else we could round up to head over to Monticello for the weekend. We didn't go last year, because Colton was only a few months old, and we just weren't confident enough in our parenting to tackle parenting in a camper! HA This year was quite the opposite, instead of being concerned about how he would handle it, I was more concerned about how we would keep him contained and o...

Pretty cool brother, even more awesome Godfather...

Trent was down tonight, and it was in watching him alone with Colton outside while I cooked dinner, that I realized how lucky I am to have Trent as my brother and how blessed Colton is to have Trent as his Godfather. Talk about over flowing love. Don't get me wrong, I've ALWAYS known Trent loves kids....and he's pretty great with other kids, but my heart melts when I watch him with Colton. (I get it, he's my kid, and so anyone gushing over him makes my heart melt, but I'm telling you, Trent adores him!!) As soon as he got here this evening, he walked right up to Colton gave him a high five, waited patiently for him to finish up his snack, and upon my prompting took him right out to play. I finished getting supper around but watched them swing, play in Uncle Trent's truck and blow bubbles on the patio. They get along great together, and by the time I had supper in the oven and came out to join them, Trent had already taught Colton to say "bo...

Tales from a Tuesday in May...

Tuesday, 12 May 2009 Well, it seems in the last several posts, all I've done is apologize for not blogging lately. This time, I must have waited well past my normal limit, because I couldn't even remember my own password to log in and blog. That's ridiculous! Regardless, we've been up to a BUNCH here lately, and I am pretty sure my last post was sometime back in April....and it's nearly Mid-May! Let's catch up on a few things.... Colton is growing like a weed. He's talking more and more all the time - a few favorite words - mama, papa, bapa (grandpa), deez (please), dan ooo (thank you), dog, trator (tractor) and baa daw (bad dog). Oh yeah, and haw daw (hot dog). He's giving actual kisses on the lips....like for real this time, not just the fake out that he did a few months back. Its serious, and it's completely heart melting... He LOVES to trash my house. It's pretty funny...as soon as I get one room picked up, he's in the ...

Fun at the nursing home...

You know, growing up, I put my time in at the nursing home doing different things for community service, and I always left there kind of freaked out. Never did I guess my own Grandma would some day have to reside there. I'm not gonna lie, the first few months of transition weren't easy. Ask Jason, I was probably in tears 9/10 leaving her there. These days are different though. I've come to accept that even though she's the same old grandma Hall, she's also a new breed of grandma Hall, and that if you don't make the most out of the time we have left with her, you're wasting precious time crying and being sad. So, that's what we do. We try to get to visit her about once every two weeks, and we like to take Colton to see her, because Grandma Hall always has and always will love babies....although, nearly every time we go visit, she asks who he is....I think it's still hard for her to believe that HER grandbabies actually have babies! Rega...

Long overdue post...

This one is mostly pictures folks. I've got a lot of updating to do -- we have had Easter, a weekend full of cookouts and a playdate with some long lost friends since my last post. Here are the pictures to prove what we've been up to -- and to say the least, it's been a ball. Colton is at such a fun stage right now -- constantly saying more and more, and he totally gets it, which I think is awesome. He knows how to help Mommy put the bath toys away, and if I tell him in the living room to put something "in the trash", he knows to go to the kitchen and finds the trash can. My kids smart...but hey, did you expect anything less? HA :) Enjoy! Easter Sunday 2009-  okay, I indulged while in Indy for a few days...and bought this hat. I thought it'd be cute....I think I was right, Jason thinks I am way wrong... His new Cubbies gear from Grandma & Grandpa Hall Colton rocked the Easter Egg hunt at Aunt Dee & Uncle Dan's....even amongst ...
