Have you ever done something, for the thrill & excitement of it,
only to look back later and realize how dumb it was? You know, like
partying so hard on your 21st birthday, then totally regretting it when
you're still feeling like crap at 4pm the next day? Or playing chicken
with another car? Or...well, you get the picture. Let me set the stage
for our latest bout with stupidity. We have family, namely Seth Maxwell,
who works in the fertilizer business, and has recently been working
with the local crop dusters to fill their tanks, so that they can do
their job. (Insert note here courtesy of Wikipedia: A agricultural aircraft is an aircraft that has been built or converted for agricultural use - usually aerial application of pesticides (crop dusting) or fertiliser (aerial topdressing); in these roles they are referred to as "crop dusters" or "top dressers". Agricultural aircraft are also used for hydroseeding.).
After visiting at our house on Sunday, Seth & Jenna left, and
realized that there was a crop duster working just down the road from
our house. So, we drove down to meet them and watch them in action.
Have you ever stopped to watch one of these guys work? Talk about a
thrill seeker. They have to swoop down, just feet above the top of the
corn stalks, then swoop back up at the very last minute before plowing
into the power lines. What's more, often times, they're making these
last minute swoops right over the top of your head as your driving down
the road. So, like blooming idiots, seeking the thrill of having a
airplane going at least 100mph (I don't really know if that's how fast,
but it seems like it...) fly right over our heads, swooping up at the
very last minute, we parked right under where we thought he would come
up next, and Seth, Jenna & I climbed into the back of his truck, to
get a birds eye view. Jason was the smart one who stayed in the car with
Colton & Murphy...at least for round one. Here's the awesome video I
shot...
Okay...so why is this so dumb. Let me replay the latest local news headline for you:
In other fun news -- we had a great weekend. Instead of boring you with words, I'll just post the pictures. I mean, let's face it....that's the only reason you all read my blog anyway! :) Enjoy!
Colton fell asleep the other night, playing. I'd gone into the kitchen for a few minutes to start supper, and this is what I found. Cute, huh?

After bath the other night, we took time for "naked baby" photo shoot....seriously, how's come baby butts are so stinking cute?

Colton is expirimenting with all kinds of foods. His newest, and he actually likes it, is garden vegetables. They look gross to me...
Colton got to sit in a big boy high chair at the restuarant on Friday night...it was so crazy to see him sitting up like that? He's really doing great with sitting up on his own...next thing you know he'll be crawling...

Trying on Grandpa's glasses, still somewhat tinted from being outside...

Sunday we spent the afternoon in the pool with Jess, Meredith & Jacob. (John was down at work, filling one of those crazy crop dusters...)

After the pool, we went back to Grandma & Grandpa Stockment's for dinner. Colton and Meredith played together...

Do you not love the looks in this one -- Colton with a big grin, and Meredith with a "What did I do?" look of innocence...sneaky little devil...
And finally, this morning, Colton LOVES to sit up and play with his barnyard. The animal pens all make the noise of the animal that goes in them, and he loves it...especially the chicken!
Have a great day!
Third crop-duster crashes; pilot walks away
Yes, this is the third crash since last Thursday. That's 5 days. Now do you see why we were so stupid? Luckily for these pilots they've all walked away unharmed, but seriously, how crazy is that? How dumb were we to park our precious son right underneath the line of fire as one of these flew right over the top of us? All for the thrill. So, I would like to thank Seth, for encouraging us to stop and watch, and for putting our son in sheer danger. Don't worry Seth, someday, he'll be totally into it too. If he's anything like his dad...In other fun news -- we had a great weekend. Instead of boring you with words, I'll just post the pictures.
