A very fun weekend...

We had a pretty fun weekend. A long weekend for me, but not for Jason, actually, quite the opposite for Jason, since he worked both Saturday & Sunday. Occasionally his company will get a job down at Frito Lay, and they have to work on a shut down weekend, so the plant is closed, but they get to go in and do their thing. It's good overtime pay, and job security I guess, but it stinks to have him gone all weekend! We made up for it by keeping plenty busy on our own! Friday night we went on a "mommy & me" date with Aunt Jess & Meredith. We took the kids to Cookie Cutters - a place designed specifically for young kids to get their hair cut! I'm not sure we'll ever go back, it's kind of expensive, and they just did a so-so job, but it was fun once. Here are a few snapshots of the kids getting their cuts! It's really genius, because they keep the kids so engaged, that they don't realize they are even getting hair cuts...and honestly, considering there was a screamer getting cut when we first got there, we're lucky our kids didn't freak out before they even got in the hot seat!!
Meredith getting a "bob" just like Mommy...they've got TV's along the wall, to keep their attention!

Colton's all ready for his cut to start...

He loved the Cat pay loader...

All done...they loved the balloons the best!

We went to Moe's for supper...nothing like a cheese quesadilla on a fish Friday! :) Well, as you can see, it was certainly a "Monkey See, Monkey Do" situation...
Our last stop was Target, and we had some fun in the $1 aisle...someday, I'll probably get in trouble for this, but for right now, I still make the rules! :)

Saturday, we got an addition to our family. Jason's been wanting an outside dog, one that is good to people we know, but has a scary bark when strangers come around. Fortunately, Annie, Jason's cousin, was looking for a new home for their dog, who had outgrown their space in town. So, Jasmine moved out to the farm...and she's such a great dog. So gentle, and calm. We're really lucky...knock on wood, it's almost been too good to be true. Colton loves being around her (after the initial shock wore off) and Murphy's pretty fond of her too...and of course, likes to start "fights", but growling at her like he's the bigger of the two. They are both fixed, so hopefully we don't have a Shih Sheplab anytime soon! :)

Saturday night was Reagan's 1st Birthday -- fun to watch all the little kids together, although, I didn't get very many pictures!!

Later that night, Grandma & Grandpa Stockment, Uncle John & Aunt Jess all stopped by and Grandpa was trying to start a fight. Meredith & Colton kept taking turns in his new camping chair, and every time Meredith would sit down, Grandpa would pipe up "Colton, she's in your chair"....well, this is about how that ended up...

...and of course, Grandpa just giggled, thinking it was hilarious!! Here's a short video, although, this was after several rounds of this...

Well, I'll leave you with one last little photo. You know, I fully expected to encounter this situation at some point in my parenting career, but never did I expect I'd have to correct the situation, because my husband was the one who'd made the error. Apparently I shouldn't let Jason dress Colton when he's still half asleep...

Jason's response..."You know, they went on kind of tight this morning, I thought something was funny about that"....haha :)

Okay...have a great week. We're going to try to survive this one, it's crazy busy! Oh yeah, and BOILER UP!!!

Get Well Soon, Grandpa Kent

Here's the best way to share Dad's video. Thank you all so much for submitting the clips. This really made him smile (and say some funny things the first time we watched soon after anesthesia). I think it will be treasured company this evening in the hospital. Thank you for your prayers, your thoughts, for answering the phone calls and lifting Dad up. We appreciate all your love and support.  58E2238E-D2E3-4B38-9FF6-AE1E502ABD14.mp4

Covid ... the end. (Hopefully. Maybe. I really don't know....)

Almost two years ago, exactly, our world drastically changed. Everyone holed up at home, scared to enter the world and catch Covid 19/Corona Virus. (Except Jason, once he got to feeling better from most likely having Covid before it was a known thing, he just went to work everyday like nothing had changed). The world basically shut down  -- special hours, curbside pick up encouraged, no dining room service only drive through or carryout. If someone coughed or sneezed anywhere near you, you were instantly suspicious. Our parents lived on complete edge and worry, taking in every ounce of information the news was constantly throwing in their faces. It was a time of great uncertainty, lots of information being thrown at us from trusted news sources, social media, and hearsay from those in the medical profession.  We spent March to May just trying to figure out our new life. No baseball. No softball. Lots of time with our animals. Lots of crafts. School from home. Porch drop ...

April - Hey Batter, Batter...

April is always the month that makes us think spring is FINALLY here, because it's starting to warm up, suns starting to shine more, except when we finally get to the baseball/softball fields, it's just as cold as it was in February. Thankfully, Emmalyn had an indoor sport to carry us through the cold of the month, until baseball/softball really got kicked off! Emmalyn tried something new this year and participated in CiVic vollebyall. This is a club program out of Carroll County, and she practiced every Sunday from January through April. Finally in late April she had three play dates. One Saturday we played up at Fairmount, IN. Grandma Jacki, Keaton and I went with Emmalyn, while Dad, Grandpa and Colton cut down some trees in preparation for our spring projects. Emmalyn and Mae Ella did a wonderful job for their team, both rocked their serving and seemed to know the game and keep their cool better than some on the team. The second weekend Dad, Em & Mom traveled to Triton H...
