Happy Birthday, Little Man

Today, we celebrated 4 years with Colton Robert Stockment. What a blessing he has been in our lives. Colton made being first time parents easy. Pregnancy was a peice of cake (okay, alot of pieces of cake...) and went by in a flash. Labor and Delivery was easy, complete with a great story to tell about the night he was born (rain/thunder/hail/sleet/snow/whiteout...which is when we finally gave in to go to the hospital). He slept through the night from a VERY young age (8 weeks to be exact), and he learned to crawl, walk and talk all right on cue, if not ahead of schedule. He earned the nickname Einstein and continued to amaze us with his memory.

Now, at 4 years old, he's doing wonderfully in school (of course, with a few things we need to continue to spend time working on...like focus, writing his letters, and cutting skills) and is making all kinds of new friends. He's social and out going (wonder where he gets that) and he loves to do anything and everything Dad does. At times, I find myself wishing he'd be less like his Dad because he acts too much like a young man and not enough like an onery toddler. :) At least I can rest easy know he's got a pretty great role model.

We spent this past weekend celebrating and in ways, we continue to do so through tomorrow. Saturday we took some of Colton's preschool and daycare buddies along with cousin Meredith bowling. What a HOOT! The kids were so well behaved, although, how do you say it...full of energy? Jason and I were both ready for bed when we were finished!  But, we traipsed on to Falcon country for the TC/Frontier boys basketball game. Colton loves watching his cousin Silas play ball and since it was Homecoming/TC Rivalry game...we sucked it up and packed that into our evening. Lucky for us, Miss Em was being spoiled rotten with some one on one time with Mamps & Paps!

Sunday we cleaned the house, then welcomed our families and great grandma's over for supper, cake & ice cream. Colton had an angry birds party -- which was likely as much Mom's idea as any. I saw the supplies for a great price online, and since we took Colton to the party supply store and he wanted one of everything, I justified choosing the theme for him. He seemed to enjoy it. Aunt Sarah made an amazing cake, both in looks and taste and Colton was spoiled rotten by his aunts/uncles/grandparents! Such a fun evening together, as it always is. Colton was pretty excited to "get Emmalyn back from the babysitter"...he even asked me at one point, "Mom, when will Emmalyn be home? I forget what her hair looks like"....ha :) His favorite gifts were his fishing pole, a hunting game and his new bike. Not to mention he will be well suited this coming summer with tons of great clothes!

Today, his actual birthday, Emmalyn and I woke him up singing Happy Birthday, and he got to take an ice cream cup snack to Pammy's. Tomorrow is snackday at school and he gets to be line leader, which, to any preschooler is pretty big business!

To everyone who sent a card, made a phone call or brought a gift to celebrate -- thank you. We are so blessed that so many people love our kids as much as we do. They don't know how blessed they are.

Happy Birthday, Sweet baby boy! We love you!
Colton - you are smart, handsome and kind. You are funny and loving. You are a wonderful big brother to your sister and a great buddy to all your friends at daycare and preschool. You've got just enough ornery in you to keep Dad and I on our toes, but we honestly couldn't ask for a better son. We are continually impressed by the new things you learn and are so proud of you and your accomplishments. We can't wait to see what the next 364 days bring, but we know one thing, our love for you will only grow stronger with each day. We love you!

Get Well Soon, Grandpa Kent

Here's the best way to share Dad's video. Thank you all so much for submitting the clips. This really made him smile (and say some funny things the first time we watched soon after anesthesia). I think it will be treasured company this evening in the hospital. Thank you for your prayers, your thoughts, for answering the phone calls and lifting Dad up. We appreciate all your love and support.  58E2238E-D2E3-4B38-9FF6-AE1E502ABD14.mp4

Covid ... the end. (Hopefully. Maybe. I really don't know....)

Almost two years ago, exactly, our world drastically changed. Everyone holed up at home, scared to enter the world and catch Covid 19/Corona Virus. (Except Jason, once he got to feeling better from most likely having Covid before it was a known thing, he just went to work everyday like nothing had changed). The world basically shut down  -- special hours, curbside pick up encouraged, no dining room service only drive through or carryout. If someone coughed or sneezed anywhere near you, you were instantly suspicious. Our parents lived on complete edge and worry, taking in every ounce of information the news was constantly throwing in their faces. It was a time of great uncertainty, lots of information being thrown at us from trusted news sources, social media, and hearsay from those in the medical profession.  We spent March to May just trying to figure out our new life. No baseball. No softball. Lots of time with our animals. Lots of crafts. School from home. Porch drop ...

April - Hey Batter, Batter...

April is always the month that makes us think spring is FINALLY here, because it's starting to warm up, suns starting to shine more, except when we finally get to the baseball/softball fields, it's just as cold as it was in February. Thankfully, Emmalyn had an indoor sport to carry us through the cold of the month, until baseball/softball really got kicked off! Emmalyn tried something new this year and participated in CiVic vollebyall. This is a club program out of Carroll County, and she practiced every Sunday from January through April. Finally in late April she had three play dates. One Saturday we played up at Fairmount, IN. Grandma Jacki, Keaton and I went with Emmalyn, while Dad, Grandpa and Colton cut down some trees in preparation for our spring projects. Emmalyn and Mae Ella did a wonderful job for their team, both rocked their serving and seemed to know the game and keep their cool better than some on the team. The second weekend Dad, Em & Mom traveled to Triton H...
