Sunny & Christmastime...

60 degrees and rainy/sunny/windy aren't exactly words I'd use to describe Christmastime. Usually it's snow, brisk, bright & flurries that fill my Christmas post...but not this year.

We were blessed to only have a handful of places to go, but still got to see a lot of our family. It was great to see everyone, on a more spread out schedule, not making the holidays feel like  WORK.

We wrapped up our pre-Christmas weekend with the Stockment Christmas and had a great afternoon with family. The weather was perfect for the kids to play outside some, which, in Grandma Pat's tiny house stuffed full of family, is a nice retreat!  It was a fun evening, and even more fun for the bigs, as they got to go home with Karlie & Luke (Isaac & Kate) for a sleepover! It was a great evening for us to enjoy/focus on Keaton and a fun way to kick off no school for two weeks!





Jason and I worked Monday & Tuesday, then I was off Wednesday to do last minute shopping/prep. Thursday was Chrsitmas Eve and after a near scare from Dad that mom was sick, and that our typical plans may fall through...Mom found her second wind and onward and upward!

Colton was asked to play Joseph in the Christmas Pageant at church, which was meaningful to me, as a former "Mary" myself. Em was an Angel and they both did a great job. Then back to Mom & Dad's for more food, drinks, laughs, gifts, and fun.

 Such a fun evening! When we arrived home, we prepared for Santa, and realized at 11pm, that Dad had hastily cleaned the kitchen and accidentally thrown away the Reindeer food Emmalyn made on Rudolph day! Alas...we had carrots. All was well. But the stockings were hung, and Santa found just fine....

 Christmas morning we were blessed to find many fun presents under the tree and something that each kid had asked of Santa!! Mom & Dad were each a bit spoiled too. It was a wonderful morning!







We headed out 11:30am to the Stockment side for brunch, gifts, and some wonderful relaxation while the cousins played! We got to snuggle new puppy Riley, sing on Em's new karoke machine, play outside because it was nearly 50 something, and even played several games of Heads Up! It was a perfect afternoon!



We wrapped up the day with one final burst of Holiday energy by heading out to Mom & Dad's to see Grandma Hancock and that side of the family. We ate....again....visited, some more, and then had our White Elephant Gift Exchange. It was a fun way to wrap up a blessed 24 hours!




What a blessed Christmas we had spent with family, good food, good laughs and fun new things!

Covid ... the end. (Hopefully. Maybe. I really don't know....)

 Almost two years ago, exactly, our world drastically changed. Everyone holed up at home, scared to enter the world and catch Covid 19/Corona Virus. (Except Jason, once he got to feeling better from most likely having Covid before it was a known thing, he just went to work everyday like nothing had changed). The world basically shut down  -- special hours, curbside pick up encouraged, no dining room service only drive through or carryout. If someone coughed or sneezed anywhere near you, you were instantly suspicious. Our parents lived on complete edge and worry, taking in every ounce of information the news was constantly throwing in their faces. It was a time of great uncertainty, lots of information being thrown at us from trusted news sources, social media, and hearsay from those in the medical profession.  We spent March to May just trying to figure out our new life. No baseball. No softball. Lots of time with our animals. Lots of crafts. School from home. Porch drop ...

April - Hey Batter, Batter...

April is always the month that makes us think spring is FINALLY here, because it's starting to warm up, suns starting to shine more, except when we finally get to the baseball/softball fields, it's just as cold as it was in February. Thankfully, Emmalyn had an indoor sport to carry us through the cold of the month, until baseball/softball really got kicked off! Emmalyn tried something new this year and participated in CiVic vollebyall. This is a club program out of Carroll County, and she practiced every Sunday from January through April. Finally in late April she had three play dates. One Saturday we played up at Fairmount, IN. Grandma Jacki, Keaton and I went with Emmalyn, while Dad, Grandpa and Colton cut down some trees in preparation for our spring projects. Emmalyn and Mae Ella did a wonderful job for their team, both rocked their serving and seemed to know the game and keep their cool better than some on the team.
