Emmalyn - 2018

Emmalyn - where do we start with you? Your spunk, smile and funloving personality are a LIGHT to our days. When you get into a giggling fit, we can't help buy smile! We love the way you try new things, encourage your friends, and deal with your brothers picking on you. You can certainly hang in there with the best of them. Not too girly, not all tom boy....and we love you to bits! Your spring through summer highlights....

You were so excited to dress like a grandma for 100th day of school!
Girl, you had to know this story wouldn't miss the blog. This is epic, and while you TRIED to be mad at us laughing hysterically AT you, you eventually joined us in laughing at your blooper. So the story.....we hadn't been under our new kitchenless cooking arrangements very long, but I was smart enough to know to stock up on groceries that could be prepared in the microwave. Easy mac for the win, right? You all had had it/made it before, and let's be real, it's EASY. Add water. Stir. Nuke. Add cheese. Stir. Enjoy. Well, our favorite ditz grabbed her easy mac and tossed it in the microwave and kicked it up for 3 minutes. And when I turned around and saw smoke pouring out of the microwave, I knew it wasn't going to be good. I opened it up to find a flaming cup of easy mac, that had never had any water added to it. Zero. Zilch. I threw that hot/flaming cup of macaroni into the ash bucket and even the dog wouldn't touch it. Our house smelled like burnt mac for a few days, but we survived. You didn't burn our house down on day 4, and we appreciate that!
This is the tomboy evidence....rockin' outfit, fishing in the horsetank for goldfish. #spunk
Can you call a 7 year old girl a badass? Because that's what I see her -- determination, grit, and the will to try something new and conquer it! Diesel was still rather stubborn here, and you were showing him who's boss!

You cheered in the fall for Colton's football team, but by the time the end of his second season of basketball was rolling around, you and Annabelle got the idea to cheer at your big brothers games. Not just on the sidelines -- no, you girls owned center court like it was meant for you! Your brothers don't know how great their sisters truly are!

For the second year in a row, you attended the Purdue Softball skills clinic! You had a great time, and it wasn't ridiculously cold out this year either!

A few random snapshots of your flexibility-- sleeping "comfortably" on the base of the dining room table watching tv (that sat next to the microwave during our hoarderville days)

Did we mention that not only are you a special little sister, but being our middle, you're also an amazing BIG sister? You and Keaton have a special bond, and I'm so thankful for the help you give to him!
Em, you are so loved by your Grandma's, and how blessed we are that they enjoy being together and loving on you. These pictures are from the day the three of us got to pamper you and take your shopping for your First Communion dress. What a fun day we had!

You played your second year of softball and your growth this year has been so fun to watch. You got to play catcher a few times, and once you figured out how to be a wall, you were literally unstoppable. You rocked catcher - so fearless behind the plate, and we know you  will continue to get better as the years go by because you are a hardworker and dedicated to improving when you find you can do it! You were also chose to play all stars this year, which was fun to see you play with a different caliber of girls.

Get Well Soon, Grandpa Kent

Here's the best way to share Dad's video. Thank you all so much for submitting the clips. This really made him smile (and say some funny things the first time we watched soon after anesthesia). I think it will be treasured company this evening in the hospital. Thank you for your prayers, your thoughts, for answering the phone calls and lifting Dad up. We appreciate all your love and support.  58E2238E-D2E3-4B38-9FF6-AE1E502ABD14.mp4

Covid ... the end. (Hopefully. Maybe. I really don't know....)

Almost two years ago, exactly, our world drastically changed. Everyone holed up at home, scared to enter the world and catch Covid 19/Corona Virus. (Except Jason, once he got to feeling better from most likely having Covid before it was a known thing, he just went to work everyday like nothing had changed). The world basically shut down  -- special hours, curbside pick up encouraged, no dining room service only drive through or carryout. If someone coughed or sneezed anywhere near you, you were instantly suspicious. Our parents lived on complete edge and worry, taking in every ounce of information the news was constantly throwing in their faces. It was a time of great uncertainty, lots of information being thrown at us from trusted news sources, social media, and hearsay from those in the medical profession.  We spent March to May just trying to figure out our new life. No baseball. No softball. Lots of time with our animals. Lots of crafts. School from home. Porch drop ...

April - Hey Batter, Batter...

April is always the month that makes us think spring is FINALLY here, because it's starting to warm up, suns starting to shine more, except when we finally get to the baseball/softball fields, it's just as cold as it was in February. Thankfully, Emmalyn had an indoor sport to carry us through the cold of the month, until baseball/softball really got kicked off! Emmalyn tried something new this year and participated in CiVic vollebyall. This is a club program out of Carroll County, and she practiced every Sunday from January through April. Finally in late April she had three play dates. One Saturday we played up at Fairmount, IN. Grandma Jacki, Keaton and I went with Emmalyn, while Dad, Grandpa and Colton cut down some trees in preparation for our spring projects. Emmalyn and Mae Ella did a wonderful job for their team, both rocked their serving and seemed to know the game and keep their cool better than some on the team. The second weekend Dad, Em & Mom traveled to Triton H...
