Emmalyn's Day on the Farm & Preschool Graduation

My oh my, what a week it's been! Monday and Tuesday we ultimately didn't have plans, but they turned into the ONLY free nights we had to run errands in preparation for the rest of the week! Wednesday evening was the Sacred Heart Mother Daughter banquet, which was a really nice time for Emmalyn and I. Not to mention, Emmalyn got picked up from Pam's by "Gamma" and got to spend the day with her and Paps one-on-one. Here are a few pics Mom was able to snap via her phone, of their day.
Fieldside lunch!

Getting ready for her tractor ride with Grandpa!
If you can zoom in enough, that grin is just priceless! Loves her Paps!
Miss Em must have been worn out from farming, because Mom said she went right inside, grabbed her blankie and Callie and was upstairs in bed before Mom could hardly get in the door. 2.5 later, she finally decided to wake up! :) Apparently when Mom asked if Grandpa talked to her, she replied, "No. Him talk on hee's pone" of course Mom giggled and she said, "He hanged up and he put it in hee's pocket".  I think she'll be JUST as observant as her big brother!

Dad's fun story from her, was her amazement at the autosteer. She even told him, "You not diving, Gandpa!" Little girl LOVED her day on the farm!

Thursday was Colton's final day of preschool. SO, so hard to believe he's put in two years of preschool already! He's growing and changing and learning by leaps and bounds, and I hope that he continues his streak of SMART!

Impromptu, I got to join them for their final day picnic. Such a fun morning -- the kids practiced their program for that evening, then walked to the Heart Park to play on the playground before returning for a picnic at their classroom. Unfortunately, all the good pictures I took, really weren't that good. However, I do have some really great photos from their preschool "graduation" program.

Part of the class!

Colton the cow!

After a full program of singing, skits and the kids showing off what all they've learned this year (which is beyond impressive!) they were told they would receive a BIG surprise. In introduction to this part of the program, Miss Sharon talked about how the students LOVE to ask questions. She said she often heard the teachers respond with "It's a big surprise" (complete with a hand motion like they were opening up a big box). As she worked to segway, she kind of laughed and said, "Well, to be honest, Colton comes to mind"...and Jason and I looked at each other like...Oh great...this oughta be good. "One day, while I was there, Colton asked if we would get to go outside for recess. As I put my hands together to do the "big surprise" motion, like the usual/everyday teachers Miss Kelly/Miss Barb, Colton put his hands up before me and said, "I know, it's a big surprise!"...of course, everyone laughed. And if you know Colton well -- his 24/7 questioning is to be expected!

Ultimately, each student was called one by one, and their parents asked to stand. They were given a certificate along with a small triangular box that they were asked (and parents warned) not to smash or open inside!

The theme of the night centered around butterfly's and the kids even sang a song (that almost drew tears from this pregnant/proud Momma) about spreading their wings and flying -- flying off to Kindergarten. Inside that small box was a live butterfly! After each child received one, they guided us all outside, and on the count of the three, the kids all released their butterfly's. It was so great, and the amazement in the kids eyes was just perfect!

Colton & his gal-pal Kendall Jo. Colton told me his face looked like this because he had just farted. Such a gentleman...

Miss Kelly (in the boa), Colton & Kendall getting ready to open/release their butterflys!
The kids really did enjoy this. Colton's butterfly went right to Miss Kelly's boa, then once they got it away, it went right to a fellow classmates hair! HA Such a neat idea...

Welp - next stop. Kindergarten. Here goes nothing!

Get Well Soon, Grandpa Kent

Here's the best way to share Dad's video. Thank you all so much for submitting the clips. This really made him smile (and say some funny things the first time we watched soon after anesthesia). I think it will be treasured company this evening in the hospital. Thank you for your prayers, your thoughts, for answering the phone calls and lifting Dad up. We appreciate all your love and support.  58E2238E-D2E3-4B38-9FF6-AE1E502ABD14.mp4

Covid ... the end. (Hopefully. Maybe. I really don't know....)

Almost two years ago, exactly, our world drastically changed. Everyone holed up at home, scared to enter the world and catch Covid 19/Corona Virus. (Except Jason, once he got to feeling better from most likely having Covid before it was a known thing, he just went to work everyday like nothing had changed). The world basically shut down  -- special hours, curbside pick up encouraged, no dining room service only drive through or carryout. If someone coughed or sneezed anywhere near you, you were instantly suspicious. Our parents lived on complete edge and worry, taking in every ounce of information the news was constantly throwing in their faces. It was a time of great uncertainty, lots of information being thrown at us from trusted news sources, social media, and hearsay from those in the medical profession.  We spent March to May just trying to figure out our new life. No baseball. No softball. Lots of time with our animals. Lots of crafts. School from home. Porch drop ...

April - Hey Batter, Batter...

April is always the month that makes us think spring is FINALLY here, because it's starting to warm up, suns starting to shine more, except when we finally get to the baseball/softball fields, it's just as cold as it was in February. Thankfully, Emmalyn had an indoor sport to carry us through the cold of the month, until baseball/softball really got kicked off! Emmalyn tried something new this year and participated in CiVic vollebyall. This is a club program out of Carroll County, and she practiced every Sunday from January through April. Finally in late April she had three play dates. One Saturday we played up at Fairmount, IN. Grandma Jacki, Keaton and I went with Emmalyn, while Dad, Grandpa and Colton cut down some trees in preparation for our spring projects. Emmalyn and Mae Ella did a wonderful job for their team, both rocked their serving and seemed to know the game and keep their cool better than some on the team. The second weekend Dad, Em & Mom traveled to Triton H...
