Punta Cana

In a little over a week, Jason and I will have crossed that 10 years mark. 10 years ago we walked down the aisle at Sacred Heart, said our vows before family and friends, and I even let Jason spill his beam & coke down the front of my gown, because, well as he put it, "it's all about the party".

And boy, have the last 10 years been a party. There have been highs and lows, good times and bad, sickness and health....but like we said that beautiful July 30th 10 years ago....we do. We have stuck together, grown from our mistakes, learned from each other and fallen into a deeper love than we knew existed. We've brought 3 beautiful children into this world, we've raised a puppy and sadly watched him go on to doggy heaven, we've lost loved ones, and welcomed nieces, nephews and lots of friends babies into this world. We've made new friends, bought a piece of the family farm, shipped (almost) two kids off to school, and started raising cattle on our property. We've take a few long weekend getaways, a few family vacations, and a few Sunday afternoon naps. What a blessed 10 years these have been.

Of course, right when we thought we had life pretty well figured out, and started to shift our lives into auto-steer, along came baby #3, Keaton Bradley....and he has kept us on our toes ever since! So much so, that when we got to about year 9, we seriously started planning an adults only getaway, using our 10 year anniversary as the perfect excuse to take a break and regroup so that we could resume this crazy 3:2 defense we call life.

We planned, saved, booked and counted down for our trip to Punta Cana. And then, Colton got picked for All Star baseball. Mom tried to tell me that there would be plenty more games ahead and not to fret (and she's right, I hope) but boy was it hard to leave all three kids in the care of our parents, and then dump a full double header, every night baseball schedule on them as well. Thankfully, we have AMAZING parents, and not only did Jason and I have an amazing vacation....the kids have a wonderful memories from Grandparent Camp x 2!!!

Sorry for the selfie overload...what else do you take pictures of when you're on a "second honeymoon"?

We had a wonderful time, enjoyed the drinks, beaches, friends & naps. Oh were the naps glorious. It was a great trip, and I think God had a plan to slow us down a bit when he planned for it to POUR rain our whole last day there -- we haven't laid in bed, watched a movie and napped in who knows HOW long. It was perfectly relaxing.

The worst part of the trip was knowing we were missing the baseball games -- Colton's team did great, coming in 3rd in the first tournament, and losing by 1 to come in 2nd in the 2nd tournament.
He did tell me on Facetime Sunday evening, after showing us his trophy, that he had a surprise, but wouldn't tell me what it was. Much to my surprise, he told us Tuesday morning when we got home, that in the 3rd inning, he'd gotten nauseous from the extreme heat and had to stop playing outfield so they could cool him down, but he still got to hit.

Colton --  Both Grandma's & Krystle all told me how Coach Dold made over you for hanging tough and playing through not feeling well to be there for your team, as he presented you your trophy. Talk about a proud Mom Moment. Way to go kiddo -- we've preached be a good teammate all season long, and it sounds like that is exactly what you did!  We are so proud of you, and so sorry that we missed it!

Special thanks to our parents and friends who helped with our kids while we were gone. We certainly couldn't live this crazy life or take these awesome adventures without your love and support. Our kids are beyond blessed to have you in their lives, and Jason and I are pretty lucky too. Love you!

Get Well Soon, Grandpa Kent

Here's the best way to share Dad's video. Thank you all so much for submitting the clips. This really made him smile (and say some funny things the first time we watched soon after anesthesia). I think it will be treasured company this evening in the hospital. Thank you for your prayers, your thoughts, for answering the phone calls and lifting Dad up. We appreciate all your love and support.  58E2238E-D2E3-4B38-9FF6-AE1E502ABD14.mp4

Covid ... the end. (Hopefully. Maybe. I really don't know....)

Almost two years ago, exactly, our world drastically changed. Everyone holed up at home, scared to enter the world and catch Covid 19/Corona Virus. (Except Jason, once he got to feeling better from most likely having Covid before it was a known thing, he just went to work everyday like nothing had changed). The world basically shut down  -- special hours, curbside pick up encouraged, no dining room service only drive through or carryout. If someone coughed or sneezed anywhere near you, you were instantly suspicious. Our parents lived on complete edge and worry, taking in every ounce of information the news was constantly throwing in their faces. It was a time of great uncertainty, lots of information being thrown at us from trusted news sources, social media, and hearsay from those in the medical profession.  We spent March to May just trying to figure out our new life. No baseball. No softball. Lots of time with our animals. Lots of crafts. School from home. Porch drop ...

Central Indiana Winter Spectacular

We kicked off show season with this set of calves in mid-January at the Central Indiana Winter Spectacular, a first time show down in Cloverdale, Indiana. I'm not sure what was more fun - being with our kids and friends at a cattle show, or listening to our kids meddle over the thought of staying in a Motel 6.  (Backstory on this one -- when I worked at Purdue/in the Conference division, I held a few conference at The Hyatt in downtown Indianapolis. When I had events there, I'd earn points. We then would use those points for free night stays....I think I had maybe 15 or so over the years. So, the only hotel my kids know, is a Hyatt, because unbeknownst to them, it was FREE.....which is the ONLY reason we stayed in such a nice place with young kids. So, imagine their dismay when the Motel 6 in Cloverdale didn't have an Eagles Nest rotating up top, or an indoor pool and hot tub/workout area. We have officially raised hotel snobs.....because when we finally took them to the k...
