2017 was certainly one for the books. We have been blessed in so many ways. We've seen a LOT of doctors. We've kicked ourselves for opting out of "accident insurance". We've gained a "Riley Kid". We've cheered our 9 year old through baseball, football, basketball and his first year of 4-H. We've watched our youngest bravely and confidently master two surgeries for the same "thing" all within 4 months of each other. We've shipped our youngest off to prek, which proved to be a bit more emotional thank I figured it might be. We vacationed. We worked. We played with friends and family and enjoyed camping on multiple weekends throughout the year.
But mostly, sorry Colton, 2017 will be remembered as the year of surgeries. Mostly because each month in 2018 I'll likely still be making payments reminding me of the fun we had.
We are thankful to God for watching over and keeping our babies safe and healthy. We are thankful for His blessings and health for Colton, and His healing in Emmalyn and Keaton.
Maybe, just maybe, 2018 will be a little more kind in the sense of medical care, and perhaps we can fully enjoy the things to come -- baseball, tball and softball all at the same time. A Conference for Mom. Emmalyn's 1st Communion. Colton's 10th birthday. Keaton's 5th birthday. Emmalyn's 8th birthday. 4-H fair and 2 ornery calves. A kitchen remodel by Dad....TBD. We have so much to look forward to, and so much to be thankful for.
You three kids are our world. And these books, this blog, it's all for you. I may have a reader here or there (Hi Stacy, Nat, Linds, Dad and Aunt Kris!) but ultimately, this is our story. This is the place where I jot our memories. Your stories. Our stories. This is Us. In so many wonderful ways....this is our story and we am so glad we are sharing it with you.
Much love, always -
Mom & Dad
