We brought in December with a bang! The first Saturday we spent the day playing basketball and heading to Indy for our annual Stockment Christmas outing! Colton played two games that particular Saturday afternoon. We left right from his second game, with Grandpa Brad and Grandma Jacki to meet the rest of the gang at our dinner destination: Cellblock 104 in Lebanon. I'd heard of this place, but never been there myself.
What an adventure this was. It's the old Boone County Jail, transformed into a restaurant. Upon entering, we were hit with a smell that made me immediately regret suggesting this place. (I've done this in the past...suggested supposed super cool place, and it winds up being a total bust). However, once inside, and shown up to our "private" room -- we were so thrilled. #nailedit! Because when we all go somewhere together our group number hits 15, they put our reservation in "basically, we'll put you in the old drunk tank...it's a large cell with nice long tables upstairs".........so away we went. About halfway up the stairs, we passed by the Blues Brothers statues chilling on the landing. The kids went nuts when they saw we were literally IN a jail cell, adn around the corner, was the booking area. A great photo opp. The food was great, the kids basically had free run of the upstairs which was nice, and we got plenty of great photos. It was a royal hoot. The icing on the cake was that it was the parade and tree lighting in downtown Lebanon that night, so while we didn't PLAN for that to happen, but the kids loved it. Keaton waving to Santa....MELT.
From the jail and downtown fun in Lebanon, we headed on into the city to hit up the Indianapolis Zoo under the lights. It was chilly, but not freezing. The perfect Christmas spirit weather. We had a super time exploring the zoo, seeing some animals and checking out the lights.
What a perfect way to kick off the holiday season!
