One last hurrah...

Before Christmas actually came, we had to sneak in a few more fun things in preparation. We knew post-Christmas Keaton would be getting out his tonsils, making us homebound....whether we wanted to be or not. So, we packed as much as we could in before Christmas.

I should also mention the pre-break fun we had -- celebrating Colton at the Fall Semester Academic Awards where he was awarded the Music award, most improved and no missing assignments. Super proud of his turnaround this year -- he's off to great places!


We also had a chance to go caroling with friends, spreading cheer in our small town for our 5th straight year! Such a fun tradition that these kids definitely look forward too.




We started our break with a cookie decorating party with friends. Thankfully, the decorating lasted 15 minutes before the calm December weather lured the kids outside. Which, was fine, because us Mom's got to drink wine, nibble cookies dipped in leftover icing and catch up. Super fun afternoon.









On Friday before Christmas we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house to help prep for the Hancock Family Christmas, and you kids lured Grandpa to a game of trickshots and "purdue". Trickshots being on his loft above the office, on his knees. Colton: nothing but net. Grandpa: P. It's a good thing Grandpa would go to the ends of the earth for these kids! HA
That evening, we hit the lanes with Uncle Matt & Aunt Sarah and the kids for our Hall Family outing. Instead of exchanging gifts amongst the kids, we just try to do something fun together. Bowling may have to be a tradition. All the kids loved it and we had a blast.





That evening, the kids were to spend the night with Grandpa & Grandma Stockment so Jason and I could hit up an adults only party. But we pooped out on the party....meaning we didn't need the sitter. However, Keaton and Em begged to stay, and like Grandma was going to say no to that! Colton loved the one on one time and they even talked me into an early morning deer hunt. It was great to be in the woods with two of my guys.

Covid ... the end. (Hopefully. Maybe. I really don't know....)

 Almost two years ago, exactly, our world drastically changed. Everyone holed up at home, scared to enter the world and catch Covid 19/Corona Virus. (Except Jason, once he got to feeling better from most likely having Covid before it was a known thing, he just went to work everyday like nothing had changed). The world basically shut down  -- special hours, curbside pick up encouraged, no dining room service only drive through or carryout. If someone coughed or sneezed anywhere near you, you were instantly suspicious. Our parents lived on complete edge and worry, taking in every ounce of information the news was constantly throwing in their faces. It was a time of great uncertainty, lots of information being thrown at us from trusted news sources, social media, and hearsay from those in the medical profession.  We spent March to May just trying to figure out our new life. No baseball. No softball. Lots of time with our animals. Lots of crafts. School from home. Porch drop ...

April - Hey Batter, Batter...

April is always the month that makes us think spring is FINALLY here, because it's starting to warm up, suns starting to shine more, except when we finally get to the baseball/softball fields, it's just as cold as it was in February. Thankfully, Emmalyn had an indoor sport to carry us through the cold of the month, until baseball/softball really got kicked off! Emmalyn tried something new this year and participated in CiVic vollebyall. This is a club program out of Carroll County, and she practiced every Sunday from January through April. Finally in late April she had three play dates. One Saturday we played up at Fairmount, IN. Grandma Jacki, Keaton and I went with Emmalyn, while Dad, Grandpa and Colton cut down some trees in preparation for our spring projects. Emmalyn and Mae Ella did a wonderful job for their team, both rocked their serving and seemed to know the game and keep their cool better than some on the team.
