The
past 48 hours has been interesting. To say the least. The happy
news...Murphy got a haircut. For the first time in, oh, 2 1/2 months.
LONG overdue. A before and after picture.
This is before...you can't even see his eyes!
This is after...Jason always hates the bandanas...
I ran errands all day Tuesday, and was quite proud of myself for picking out a toilet, wash tub, and mirrors for the bathroom all on my own! (I've never bought a toilet before...so this was quite the feat!!) I met Jason at the house after work, and they were going to go to town on putting together the laminate floor. So, I left to go home and help Mom stain the boards some more. I called Jason about 8:30 to see how they were getting along, and all I heard was "well, this laminate is junk...I've got a ton of help, and junk for product. It's going back". And he hung up. Great. So, I bought them junk...I was even prepared to pay more when I was picking it out, and the guy at Menards told me that this cheaper stuff was actually the better product and was brand name. When Jason got home, he told me that they only got three rows laid in 4 hours, and that it was the most frustrating stuff. So...Wednesday morning, we were both up at 6:30, thinking Jason was going to work, and he finally called in sick, and we went to Von Tobels, got new floor, and returned the "junk" to Menards. Got back to the house about 10:30, and Jason got started on the floor. Dad and Matt came down to help about 12:30, and Sarah (Matt's girlfriend), Mom and I worked on cleaning up the bathrooms, the kitchen floor and hung the baby's border. By 6:30pm, the boys had the floor done. D-O-N-E, DONE!!! And it looks great. Jason was pleased with it, and pleased that he didn't "waste" a day off. And now some pictures...
Dad & Jason, working on the floor.
Looking good...WAY more progress than on Tuesday night...
Murphy, enjoying watching us all work!
Sarah washing the mirrors for bathroom...always smiling.
This is the funk that errupted when we put the toilet bowl cleaner in -- notice the nastiness. After three soakings, it was clean.
Mom stole the camera...notice the baby belly gets in the way of bending over too far.
Matt, pretending to actually be doing something. He gets an A for showing up...that might be it...although, he did choose to clean our gutters...in the freezing cold rain.
Mom, washing the drywall dust off the cabinet.
And, our favorite part of the day....the baby border went up. And without even 3 inches of border to spare...the progress.
Making the last little bit fit, we had to cut it backwards to match up the giraffe butts...but we did it! :)
The finished floors...looking FANTASTIC!
All that's left is cleaning, cleaning, more cleaning, and floors & trim. We're almost there folks...almost there. Happy Thanksgiving!
